View Full Version : Dollar Tree DEAL
JanieD 11-12-2007, 12:36 PM Stopped in Dollar Tree before going into Walmart since they close early on Sundays. As I filled my basket with tissue paper, kid's stickers, 3 pack Ivory soap & such, DH found a pack of batteries just the size for my watch. :mdance: To think I was planning to spend $3-4 at Walmart for 1. So far my watch is working great since DH replaced the battery last night. :tay: What a Deal & I have 7 more batteries if this one doesn't last very long! Need to get by Dollar Tree more often! Anyone want to share your recent finds?
baxjul 11-12-2007, 01:37 PM YAY! WOOHOO!
YankeeMom 11-12-2007, 05:31 PM We got Malt-o-meal box/bagged cereals at our Dollar Tree a couple weeks ago.
mmandjsmom 11-12-2007, 05:58 PM I got these big (5 qt) airtight plastic canisters. I will put my hot cocoa mix, cookie mix and bread mixex in them. I have been looking for something like this but at Target and Walmart they are over $5 a piece....I saved $12! I love bargains!!
kaykwilts 11-12-2007, 08:05 PM I'm excited. We're getting a Dollar Tree in our town.
kcsmom76 11-12-2007, 08:38 PM That's awesome. :thumb:
I stopped into our DT on Saturday. I got dd two pretty hair bows, and two pairs of tights for her Christmas pictures. I probably saved $5 or more.
DixieJ 11-12-2007, 08:46 PM I love Dollar Tree--never know what you're going to find there. I stocked up on orangeglow furniture polish a while back at Dollar Tree, it was the "orangeglow" brand, not the knock-off.
Wildrose 11-12-2007, 08:47 PM I go into the dollar tree for their rope dog toys, wooden spoons, and beads. I use them as parts in making parrot toys for my bird. Pet toys are so expensive!
bumplett 11-12-2007, 08:50 PM I haven't been in Dollar Tree in months - I guess it wouldn't hurt to take a trip just to peek inside. :D
homemaker66 11-13-2007, 08:15 AM I love the DT!! I save so much there every week. I found lots of christmas gifts there.
Libby 11-14-2007, 01:56 AM Now that the holiday season is fast approaching - I pop into there when I go cross border shopping. I know where one is exactly in relation to where I plan to shop and I map out the route accordingly WITH my list(s)!
I love the fact that you can actually buy brand name items for $1 and not poorly made knock offs that dont work.
sondray 12-27-2007, 09:05 AM I love DT, when I did a basket for a baby shower, I found onesies for 1.00 and the booties to match. I just embroidered the onesies with different designs and embroidered the babies name on them. Quite a savings, since Walmart's onesies are so expensive. I did however, buy a pack of trifold diapers in walmart to make embroidered burp clothes.
LizaZ 12-27-2007, 11:13 AM I love Dollar Tree, but don't get there very often. I live in a city and you can burn up a lot of gas driving if you don't buy what you can close to home and plan/consolidate trips when you do need to go outside the neighborhood. We don't have a Dollar Tree close to us now, but when I do manage to make it to one I like to stock up on bubble bath and soap. I also look at the glassware and plastic storage containers, but they often don't have what I need at the moment. I bought a lot of stuff at Dollar Tree for my mom's birthday party last year. I also like to look at the craft area. Their silk flowers usually look really good.
What they do have does seem to vary, so if you have favorite brands or things that you buy regularly it's kind of hard to find them all the time at Dollar Tree. I've also noticed that some of the stores are cleaner/better organized than others.
imforpeace 12-27-2007, 11:33 AM I absolutely love Dollar Tree. I can find so many great things there. I am room mom and needed a holiday craft for the school party. I went there and found a package of 12 wood ornaments for $1...love that! I bought two packages and went home to round up paints, glitter, beads etc to take to school. It was a big hit, even the teacher made an ornament. {and cost $2.00 + tax}
I have nade so many gift baskets from that store. Even the basket is $1!
JanieD 12-27-2007, 03:13 PM Made it into DT mid-December & got a few deals! 4 pre-printed Christmas boxes (8x10"), a magazine, 2 battery operated tealights & stickers. Need to stock up on tissue paper, scrapbook/craft supplies & glass candle holders on my next trip.
Plus my watch battery from November is still going strong! I just love those Dollar Tree Deals!
hmcart 12-29-2007, 12:23 PM hmmm makes me want to go to the dollar tree
Marie78 12-29-2007, 02:03 PM I went last night and I was bummed out that most of their holiday decorations had been sold and what was left was very picked over.
I did buy my pure & natural soap 3/$1 and a small tube of udderly smooth cream. I love how soft this stuff makes my hands and I can't find it anywhere for $1. I bought a congratulations card for 50 cents and Ajax dish detergent for $1 (I can usually find a better deal when I have a coupon for dish soap, but I don't have any coupons right now, so I had to spend a $1). I saw one of my co-workers in there and it made me feel good that I am not the only one who likes to save some money by shopping there :).
Drgnfly423 12-29-2007, 04:11 PM Hmmm...I might have to make a trip this weekend. =) I found some great candle holders to decorate my bathroom. I always buy gift bags there, too. Sometimes they will have 2 pack of bags for $1. Cards are really inexpensive, too!
kaykwilts 12-29-2007, 06:34 PM I have heard that their pregnancy testing kits are really cheap there. I no longer have a need for such products but it's good to know that if you needed it you could get it cheap.
bratz54 03-10-2008, 08:01 AM sometimes at night check out their dumpsters and might get lucky to find boxes of cereal, fabric softner, ladys douches, bottles of cleaners, all sorts of items, like i do. your be shocked to see what they throw away
luv-my-lexi 03-10-2008, 03:27 PM I'm excited. We're getting a Dollar Tree in our town.
We are getting one too. They are taking applications for a new one being built in our town right now....I am tooooo excited. A new dollar store
pammy 03-12-2008, 08:18 AM I went in yesterday and loaded up. I love that store!!! Needed an assortment of items, we're fashioning a semi-kitchenette in the little apartment downstairs, and my parents are coming to stay in it this weekend. It also has a seperate bathroom, so for $38 I got tons of little things needed for the kitchen and bathroom: soaps, shampoo and conditioner, toothpastes, hair brush and combs, lotions, hand soap, dish soap, dish pan, dish detergent, 4 coffee mugs, 8 plastic drinking glasses, placemat to set out coffee service on, sponges and kitchen cleaners, little snack items, trash bags, and then quite a few snack items and bathroom items for us upstairs.
Felt like i had a full basket and spent less than $40. NO WAY I would have done that well at Wally World, no way! I LOVE our Dollar Tree!! :D
cissylu 03-12-2008, 10:25 AM I need to take a trip to dt haven`t been in a good while.
JanieD 03-12-2008, 11:47 AM Wonder what sort of Spring/Easter stuff they have or if its picked over? Hope to get by on Friday for several items. Noticed a few toy items on my last trip that would be great for Easter goodies. Need to make my list have lots of shopping to do (birthday, Easter, household items) while I'm out... combining errands can get confusing without a list!
perSue 03-12-2008, 11:53 AM i admit it, I LOVE dollartree!
i like it better than some of it's $-competitors.
it's merchandise has less variety than some competitors, but the quality is worth the $ spent... not a dollar wasted!
i've gotten plenty of small plastic boxes/containers for all kinds of things to organize... that was at least 8 yrs ago & they're still going strong!
i get a lotta household cleaners there, papertowels, small gifts like the "dry washcloths" (add to water & watch it grow!), soaps, candles, great for party supplies!
i even get some of our holiday decorations there! And they're STILL used each year. But if something rips/gets ruined, it doesnt hurt, it was only a $.
I'm also a fan of biglots/oddlots too! for a little higher quality than dollartree, but not super expensive... I enjoy going there too! :)
LOL
shoiji 03-12-2008, 01:03 PM Yup, big fan of Dollar Tree. I have to limit how many times I go in since I tend to over buy in there. LOL But I really love the fact I can get name brand items in there. I even found those bottles with pouring spouts for oil, vinegar. They were made for Target. Not bad for a dollar! Even found OXO cooking utensils ages ago.
Since I need masking tape that will be my excuse for my next trip there. hehehe
XplatinumXpixeyX 03-13-2008, 01:33 PM We have 4 Dollar Trees in my area and 2 of them are the best. One of them is HUGE. I love shopping there. Especially for Soda, 3 Lt. of Soda for only $1 that is the cheapest you will ever find soda. I love finding hidden gems in there to. I love going there to get my cleaning supplies. It works great and it's only $1. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one crazy over Dollar Tree :D
I love Dollar Tree too!
I was just in there yesterday and spent $35.
I did leave with a bunch of stuff that I actually needed and a few things that I didn't. LOL
I have gotten a bunch of things for my ipod (skins, covers & speakers). I buy cleaning products all the time. They actually had brand new training bras (my dd is starting to develop) that were still in the plastic and had a JCP tag on them. They sell for $6 and I got them for a $1. Woo hoo!
Athena31 03-14-2008, 08:52 PM I just went and found lot of good easter basket goodies and yummy bags of chocolate drizzled caramel corn and chocolate dipped pretzels.
carlitasway 03-14-2008, 11:01 PM I went out there today and stocked up. I found boxes of Barilla pasta there and bought 4. I also found Orville Reddenbocker popcorn and got some of that. I got other snacks, gardening supplies, ziplock bags, foam handsoap, lunch bags, a big water bottle, hair things for dd, fabric softener, air freshner, etc. Mine still had a bunch of easter stuff.
cissylu 03-14-2008, 11:28 PM when do you get your dollar tree.
JanieD 03-17-2008, 02:37 PM I found Spiderman stuff for one Easter basket. Pickup several extras for Christmas gift boxes. They had Disney character yo-yos & stamp pads, but my basket was pretty full already. Got 3 liquid hand soaps, 2 packs clothes hangers, gum & 7 Spiderman toys (matchbox cars, helicopters & wash clothes) for less than $14. Love the deals I always find when I shop there! Wonder what I'll find on my next trip to Dollar Tree?
EarthGirl517 03-22-2008, 09:06 PM I love Dollar Tree. I got all the Easter Basket stuff for my 2 kids there for $25. I used the big sand buckets with the shovels as baskets. Then filled them with candy, eggs, jellybeans, balls, coloring books, colored pencils, crayons and more. I always spend at least $50 on the 2 of them and never get this much stuff. Glad I got smarter this year.
shoiji 03-24-2008, 08:29 PM Well, since I want to grow more herbs and hopefully veggies this year, I have been stocking up on potting soil. Then realized I needed pots. It dawned on me to check Dollar Tree. Sure enough, was able to get some pots to use. Will be visiting Dollar Tree again next month to do more stocking up. Thank goodness for Dollar Tree!!
M55FF 03-24-2008, 10:01 PM Dollar tree is one of my least favorite shopping places...
I went there recently and woah, what a bunch of cheap junk.
I avoid that place now. Glad you found things you wanted or could use there, but to me, thats one store that in my opinion has nothing going for it at all.
hippytreehugger4ever 04-25-2008, 10:42 PM I find all of dh's snack food there, my garbage bags, Progresso soup, Coca-Cola glasses :catfly:, yarn that costs about 7 bucks at Hobby Lobby, cleaning products, etc...
