Has anybody ever advertised/sold any unneeded vehicles? I have 2 to sell that we used to use but no longer want or need. They are old, and both need work on them, but for someone with mechanical skills they could be a good deal.

Did you advertise in the newspaper? Did you just park it somewhere with a sign on it?

I have no clue how to do this. I really would like to sell them this month since car insurance is due Jan. 6 and getting rid of them would save me about $500 on that and put some cash in my pocket.

Do you have a craigslist? That is how we bought our girls jeep.

I second the vote for Craigslist. I have used it to both buy and sell vehicles. Works great and it's free.

Do you have a local junk yard? They buy vehicles, I just sold my 1990 Grand Am and they gave me $175 and they towed it.

I was thinking the same as the ladies above mentioned; try Craigslist or contact a local junk yard.

I sold my car on Craigslist within a week.

Definitely try Craigslist. We listed a '89 Nissan Sentra with A LOT of problems and got a bunch of phone calls the same day. We would've sold the car, but there was a problem w/ the title that we did not realize beforehand. CL is the way to go for selling used cars though, imo.

Another vote for Craigslist. Also, if you need the tax write-off, you may make more in donating them to a legit charity.

Thanks, everybody! I've checked and we do have a Craigslist here. I also asked my son (the technology expert) if he knows how to post pictures of the vehicles and he does, so this week we will get started!

You might want to ask for cash only. Or something like that. Just a thought. A friend did this. She didn't have to worry about checks bouncing.

You could also think about parking them somewhere that the highschool kids will see them on their way to and from school with the for sale sign on them.
