View Full Version : How often do you change your sheets?
doodlebug 09-20-2002, 05:23 PM Was just wondering how often people change their sheets and pillowcases. I think I'm going to start changing pillowcases every other day, my face is breaking out with acne(I'm 38, and I'm getting acne  ) I usually change sheets every other week but I think I need to do it more often too. Just wondering what everyone else does.

Minnie401 09-25-2002, 12:50 PM Try just changing the pillowcases everyday if need be.I never broke out until I had my last baby (when I was 30). Now I have nice skin (I'm 41) just have to deal with dryness.

debbiepete 09-25-2002, 12:51 PM Every week
tnschaffer 09-26-2002, 12:19 AM once a week...sometimes every other depending on how busy I get
bamamomto4 09-26-2002, 12:29 AM I change mine every other week.
dolphin 09-26-2002, 04:07 AM Every week unless I just can't do anything then it will be a bit longer. Ours is a waveless waterbed. I have to remove the sides, take off the sheet, tuck in the mattress cover, replace the clean sheet by lifting up all 4 corners of the waterbed, tuck it in, replace the sides, place the top sheet, place the bedspread, and change the pillow cases. Takes me a good 20 min. to do this and by the time I am done I am exhausted. If dh complains that the sheets have been on too long I explain that I'm not capable of doing it right now and if he wants them changed he will do it himself. He hasn't made the bed yet in 3 years so I guess he can live with it. LOL
Although I might add that in the real world where life is normal, I think they are supposed to be changed once a week. LOL
Michelle 09-26-2002, 09:54 AM Once a week here.
dozymom 09-26-2002, 11:54 AM Once a week.
I made a bunch of extra pillowcases though and this may help.
I bought a double bed sized flat sheet on sale, 100% cotton, white and I made 6 extra pillowcases. Perfect, no waste. I used my ordinary pillowcase as a guide for measurements (nope, didn't take it apart, just laid it out, added more for seams and realized I could get 6 exactly from that double bed flat.
I even got the fancy edge from the top of the sheet, to mimic the "real" pillowslips on the top 2.
It's handy to have the extras.
jettsmom 09-26-2002, 12:28 PM That's a great idea for making pillow cases. It would be so cheap too. Pillow cases are so expensive.
Trying to change sheets every week.
rainbowgc 09-26-2002, 01:13 PM Once a week in the summer every other week in the winter - (sweating)
QuilterMom 09-26-2002, 02:41 PM Once a week.
dozymom 09-26-2002, 05:34 PM Forgot to add that by making those pillowcases, out of the double flat sheet I saved about 30 plus $ over buying them on the same sale, that I bought the double flat sheet at.
A friend was with me and she told me this trick.
I can't remember why it was 30$ plus but I worked it out at the time and thats the number that sticks in my brain.
doodlebug 09-26-2002, 07:22 PM  Thanks for the great idea dozymom! I'm definitely gonna do that, I need to keep my eyes open for a good sale on sheets now.
