Has anyone tried the Wal Mart 4$ prescription program? I love it. I printed the list from Wal Mart.com and took it to my doctor and we changed two of my prescriptions to those that WM carries for 4 bucks.

My biggest complaint is the wait. The pharmacy is soooo busy that I have to wait for at least an hour for a new script, but picking up refills isn't so bad.

Of course my 2008 goals are to lose some weight and get off my diabetes and HBP drugs. Almost there! I am down to half a HBP pill now and have decreased my diabetes drugs! Whoopee!:grouphug:

Several of my patients are currently using WalMart pharmacy due to the cheap medications they are VERY pleased!!! I have not tried the WalMart plan as I am not on any medications besides vitamins. I applaud you for losing weight and thus decreasing the dosage on your High Blood Pressure and diabetes medications. :thumb:

I'm on 1 med that's on the $4 list so I get it at Walmart, but I hate the Walmart pharmacy. They are incredibly slow, rude, and this one particular lady and I have it out for each other. Heaven forbid we ever meet in a dark alley somewhere LOL.

We have used the Walmart pharmacy with great success. I used it for my son's Rx's but none of mine are on the "list" unfortunately :( The pharmacist at our local Walmart was very courteous and helpful given our son had a very bizarre, rare health condition going on. We are in TX and I think the HEB also has a $5 prescription program here, if that helps anyone.

I "think" target has the same program. People can check into that.

also, be aware, that the 4 dollar program is for ONE pill a DAY per month. If you take TWO pills per day of the same medication, its 8 dollars, THREE pills, its 12.00...

Also, other drugs are covered at a cost of more then the 4.00... Im not sure what they are.

It also pays to call around to all pharmacys in your area if you do not have drug coverage. They are not the same. You may just find your drug cheaper at walgreens or CVS.

It's actually $4 for the normally prescribed amount. For my med, I take 4 pills a day which is double the normally prescribed amount. I pay $8 (double $4)

I have used the $4 list before. I printed it out to take to the pediatrician with me once when I was taking DS for a skin rash. I was surprised that our pediatrician already had the list and was glad to give an RX that was on the list.

I have an RX for Imitrex, which isn't on the list (no generic), but I usually end up making money on it by transferring it around and getting gift cards. My RX copay for it is $25. Last month I got a $30 gift card for transferring it to CVS and this month I got a $25 coupon off the Imitrex website! So I netted $5 plus 2 months worth of Imitrex.

We changed to Walmart Pharm. in order to be able to fill our RX's either when we are at our cabin, or here at home.

BUT, I am only on one med., dh is on 7. And when we switched to their from our neighborhood grocery/pharmacy, we cut the cost overall to less than half what it was. I love it there.

We have checked it out.
Got the list of medications
if we should decide to ever
use it.

Just a reminder, just because the pharmacy associates are rude at your Walmart does not mean they are at all other Walmarts. I know the pharmacy where I shop always has a line, but I have gotten prescriptions there and never had bad service.

My only med is on that list! Yeah! I am thrilled. With our ins change here is a $1500 deductable per person before benefits kick in so the $4 program is a definate saver for me!

We use the $4.00 one at Sams.

Refills are easy, we call ahead. It has saved us a bunch of money.

I am with you there. The last two I have had filled there have been awful. The first one I called in my script and gave them until the next day and when I went to pick it up it was not ready. Their reason was that it was kicked out of the system because I had a free trial week which I had used the first time so it had tried to apply it to it again. Now mind you when I got there they looked it up and saw the problem right away. But I had to wait another 1 1/2 hours for it to be ready. Why could they have not took the one minute and looked it up when it was kicked I asked, they said they don't bother unless someone comes and needs it. Needs it? Why else would you be there? The last one I took was an antibotic for my son and they said it was a 3 1/2 hr wait, so I went back when the time was up and guess what they had not filled it either. They needed to know if he was allergic to penicillin. Why did the girl who took the prescription not ask that question? Another 45 minute wait and I finally got it. If it wasn't for no insurance and needing the $4 meds I would change in a heart beat.

Remember they are filling hundreds of RX's a day (A few years ago I think we topped 800 in one day). They are human and get agitated when they are slammed... I worked at Wal Mart pharmacy as a clerk, and there were days that it was hard to keep my smile on.. I was never rude (goodness at least I hope not), but when it is busy it can be a mad house for everyone involved....

It's still worth it to me to get my scripts for $4. We were lucky enough that all of ours were on the list or were able to be changed to ones that were on the list. And, we live very near tha Wal Mart, so it is not a problem to run back there when they are busy.

Sure, that goes for anyone. Unfortunately at my Walmart, they are ALWAYS like that. I don't just go in there every six months either. For the past couple of years I think I was there just about once a week. It seems like they never have enough staff, the wait is always incredible, they won't call the doctor's office for you, I get attitude from the various techs, 1 in particular. This is not a freak occurrence, this is EVERY time. They've loudly announced what meds I was picking up and made inappropriate comments about them. And it sounds like it's not just my Walmart. I'm not saying every single Walmart is like that, but no one can tell me "oh they're just stressed because they're busy." Guess what, I get stressed too but I don't talk to clients like that. I will call my Rx in to pickup 2 days later and I still have to wait up to an hour or more to actually receive my medication. Unreal! It's getting to the point where it's not worth it anymore.
