I would like to start buying grains in bulk, i.e. flour, grits and oatmeal and start splitting the cost with some nearby friends.
Has anyone does research on the best deals? I currently go to Aldi's or Walmart for such items. :rollsmile

try www.bulkfoods.com they carry some of what you are looking for also ship free for orders $75 or over. Also check ebay and amazon They often have bulk food distributors that sell through these sites.

There may already be a coop near where you live and you can join that one and order with other people.

theurbanhomemaker.com has all kinds of stuff including grains, mills, and bakeware. They seem pretty reasonable to me.

You may also want to see if there is a farm or country store near you. I get my bulk foods (including grains) at a Amish country store.

I found an Amish store near me that I can order my bulk from. I just ordered 200# of hard winter wheat for 60$

We get ours from a coop about an hour's drive away... Good deals for up here. I'd check around for one there...

farm supply stores, places like Sam's/BJ's/Costco/etc., health food stores, even some farmers will sell below cost to regular customers (non-retail).
