This book was the beginning of my becoming frugal
and saving. I saw both authors on the Oprah Winfrey
show I believe back in 1988. It changed
my whole way of thinking about money.
Though I didn't agree with all of their ideals the
book did make me think and approach money
handling differently.
Anyone else?

I bought it recently but haven't had time to read it yet. I'm glad to know you thought it was good!

Hi,
Yes very good and quick read.
The book is like anything else, you take what
you need and leave the rest. But it definitely
make you think differently everytime you make
a purchase.

I'm guessing it's Dave Ramsey's as OP put this under that subheading in the threads.

The title of the book is
Your Money or Your Life
Authors: Joe Domingez and Vicki Robin
the same as the title of this thread.
It speaks about organizing your money
and your life, introduces you to being frugal,
to think of your money in terms of the energy you
spend to make money.
It's very good for someone new to being
frugal.

I discovered this book about 10 years ago, and it really influenced me as well. The most important part to me was about figuring out your true earning rate per hour. Knowing how many precious minutes of your life it will take in work to buy something really makes you consider whether or not you really need it!

This book sounds great. I'll see if I can crunch my numbers (who needs food right? LOL) so I can fit it in the budget. One of the reasons I'm doing the Total Money Makeover is so I can, in a few years, live more simply and work fewer hours (maybe even at a less stressful job!), so this book sounds like it's for me!

This is a great book. Instead of making you feel like your on a diet i.e. deprived. It makes you feel so damn smarter than everybody else when you don't fritter your money away. It is empowering.
It's about valuing yourself and what you want to do with your life. And every time you spend money you think about that purchase - is it bringing me closer to my goals or farther away.
Oh and as for is it in the budget to buy the book - get it from your library.
