Not my favorite job in the world but someone has to do it. I used the blow dryer and set a couple pans in the freezer to cath the drips and no mess and was done in less than an hour.

Great idea. The only problem I have is emptying my freezer out enough so that I can defrost it. Now if I could just figure out a way to partially defrost it with the food still in it. I have seen someone do it before BUT I do not remember how they did it. Any ideas????

have no clue. i took everything out and set it in one side of the sink. it only took me 45 minutes and nothing was totally soft.

I am bumping this up to see if someone has an easy method of defrosting a deep freeze. I absolutely hate that job and I tend to wait too long to do it so I have a huge job when I finally get around to doing it. :(

That's the method I use too, Karli. I did mine last Friday and I promised myself I would *not* wait so long next time.:(

I've heard if you spray a light coating of pan spray the Ice build up will fall off faster/easier.

I then set pans of hot steaming water in the freezer and close the lid. IN a couple hours you can just pop the ice off the sides and wipe down. Voila...clean freezer

We do this but put a small electric space heater in there leaving the top open a bit. Doesn't take long to melt. We also use the wet/dry shop vac to suck out the water & towel dry the rest.
