Well, I purchased the Complete TWG about a year ago. I read it cover to cover at that time. The one tip I really implemented immediately was a clothesline, both indoor and outdoor.

So, because I really think I can implement more than 1 thing from that entire book, I have started to re-read it.

So far, I'm inspired to put the word out that any and all hand me downs will be accepted. I have 2 four year olds and they seem to grow faster than weeds.

I'm considering re-using baggies. I'd have to get daycare on board for that, as I'm really thinking about all the items that go into the kiddo's lunches that are in baggies! Their lunch pails aren't large enough for many re-usable plastic containers. I could send them with a little igloo cooler!

Are there any tips you picked up from TWG that you want to share (and inspire me!) with me? Thanks!

I've also read some of the threads recommending other frugal books, so I have a list ready for the next library visit!

I used to make the tuna noodle casserole recipe that I found in that book. I think it was called mix and match seafood casserole.

I get a lot inspiration from reading that book. Every year I pick it up and discover something I can put to use in my own life. That book helped me to think outside the box and now I find use for things I used to recycle and if I want something I think of a way to make do with what I have until I can afford it.

I also read and re-read TWG for inspiration. Let's see, I hang some clothes to dry, most of mine and some of hubby's. I use the cleaning solution on p.82. I would love to try the syrup, but I have not been able to find maple extract.

Pizza crust recipe is great! I"ve been making it for years.

I read it religiously!

Probably alot of thing I don't even remember came from there. Alot of it was the general principal of using everything up or thinking of a cheaper way to do it. I made blue jean potholders from there one year for Christmas and firestarters from pine cones, I use the syrup recipe, I fixed a laundry basket with a paper clip, made a price book, switched back to homemade pizza and popcorn from my childhood. That's all I can think of right now.

The Tightwad Gazette a frugal tips book.

I love that book. I use the recipe for syrup, and used to make the broccoli-cheese sauce for baked potatoes. Need to do that again. Overall, the book is wonderful and a definite read if the economy tanks like all the financial gurus tend to think it will do.

I haven't been able to find maple extract either so I just use maple flavoring which is availble

I couldn't find the maple extract either, but I use the maple flavoring too. It comes out just as good as Aunt Jemima's to me. I've made my own for years now, but I did learn one very valuable lesson early on...don't make the "quick" version on flavoring box and put it in your pantry. IT WILL MOLD. :surprise: LOL. I went immediately back to the "other" version, which requires you to cook it, and have never had it mold.

I think it was in the TWG that I realized that buying "convenience food" was so expensive. I honestly never even realized that there was such a thing. So, now if I can make it from scratch (or partially from scratch) I'll try and figure it out. Sometimes I still opt for convenience, but not as much as before.
