View Full Version : I lost one of my jobs
mmy2grls 03-13-2008, 08:41 PM I just got terminated from one of my work at home jobs. There is now 1 company I work for. I've always needed both of these jobs to make the money I needed. I was told i'm welcome to reapply which I did. If I can get hired again that will be great.
lost a job, no child support....blah this is not good.
I'm not going to worry or stress. Worse thing that would happen is that me and my girls would move in with my parents, it would be crowded.
Then again maybe a better job will come my way. I'm staying positive
That couldn't have come at a worse time. But don't worry because I just know that something better will come your way. When one door closes.................
perSue 03-13-2008, 08:51 PM i think just staying positive right now will help you through this rough time.
depending on the hours of the job lost, maybe this gives you a little more time to spend with your girls?? maybe see it that way.
if not, then, keep on keepin' on... that's all any of us can do.
something better will come along... keeping positive will almost ensure that.
we'll keep our fingers crossed for you. :)
mmy2grls 03-13-2008, 09:15 PM It would be a little more time with my girls since I mainly worked this job while they were sleeping.
The bad thing is the job I have I can only make about $300 tops a week so I needed the other job to bring in more money when needed.
In the colder weather my bills are almost $900 not including extras. As soon as I don't have to use heat my bills should only be about $700.
dianne9106 03-13-2008, 09:32 PM Hang in there - you will over come this!! You are made of tough stuff and you will find something else if not something else better!

mmy2grls 03-14-2008, 12:12 PM I'm looking at this as a good thing. My kids need more attention and my house gets trashed from me working all the time.
I also submitted my financial aid appeal so I can finish school, still waiting to hear from that.
I slacked in my budget so i'm sure I can shave some money off
C@rol 03-14-2008, 03:32 PM Sending good vibes for a better job.
It will all work out.
Athena31 03-14-2008, 09:01 PM Here is hoping you get a job better than the one you lost.
mmy2grls 03-14-2008, 10:08 PM I found out I can reapply for my job that I lost in 6 months
I did recieve a child support payment today, that is a big help
i'm looking into getting into mystery shopping to make up for money lost where my kids can go with me, we would have fun and get out of the house
i'm still going to look into more work at home jobs cause it's a good thing to work for more than one company
I think everything will work out great :)
qtkitty 03-14-2008, 10:11 PM WOOHOO .. i am so glad the CPcheck came through for you... Hopefully they continue to do so as your finding another stay at home job.
mmy2grls 03-16-2008, 02:10 AM I have an interview this week for another work at home job and this was hires you as an employee with a decent hourly wage plus set hours split into 2 shifts. This is perfect for me I think.
I put in 10 applications today and so far looks like I may have a pick of 3 jobs. :)
Michelle68 03-16-2008, 01:22 PM That's great! Keeoing my fingers crossed for you.

zakity 03-16-2008, 04:04 PM Woohoo! I am so glad that you have possible jobs already.
LuvMyHubby 03-18-2008, 10:45 PM Good luck in your job search and good wishes for your appeal also.
mmy2grls 03-18-2008, 11:04 PM I heard back from my appeal today, I didn't submit enough info. SO I have to redo it again. I've been writing and rewriting this for 3 months now.
mmy2grls 03-21-2008, 08:33 PM Woohoo I heard back from a place. I have the job if I can figure out how to juggle getting my daughter to school at the same time i'm suppose to train.
This job i'll be an employee and the hourly rate is double my states minimum wage
zakity 03-22-2008, 03:38 AM Woohoo!! I so hope you can get it figured out. Wow!! Double the min wage!
mmy2grls 03-25-2008, 09:40 AM I declined the job offer, it would have been an inconvenience.
I contacted my supervisor from my job and told her I was having problems making enough money while working around my children. She helped me come up with a schedule and gave me tips to maximize my earnings. I have went from making $8 a hour to making $14 a hour in half the time now.
I make my kids go to bed at 8 pm so I can work and wake them up at 5 am so we have quality time, eat breakfast together before my oldest goes to school. This is working out great so now I can work while they sleep, nap, and I have more quality time with them.
IntlMom 03-25-2008, 10:44 AM WOW! This sounds great....well, except fo rthe 5 AM part! Bless your heart, I'm glad it's you and not me!! :) :
mmy2grls 03-25-2008, 11:06 PM I would like to say thank you for all the good thoughts and prayers
Tonight I was offered my old job back but I have to start as a newbie again. It took me a long time to get where I was but I can start over with no problem.
So many times things felt helpless and the thought of just moving back in with my parents crossed my mind. I couldn't have accomplished or stay positive without the wonderful support i've recieved here.
mommy4ever 03-26-2008, 10:14 AM If it was offered back, why start as a newbie?
Was the dismissal just a way to get the wage budget down? If so, I'd recommend keep looking for something, as it's a matter of time before it happens again. It's dirty pool. That's like the employers that make you work 38 hours, never more, so they don't have to give them insurance. Not nice.
kaykwilts 03-26-2008, 10:33 AM Glad things are starting to work out financially for you.
Missy 03-26-2008, 11:38 AM do you have links for these wahm jobs?? This might help others too from the sounds of some of the replies you posted to the thread. :)

I was deactivated for missing to much work. They don't reactivate for that so you have to go through the hire process over again.

PurpleSnowflake 03-26-2008, 03:33 PM Are you getting enough sleep?
I had a friend doing this but she slept the entire time her kids were both in school.

mmy2grls 03-26-2008, 05:01 PM lol actually I was sleep deprived for a while, I have one in school and a 2 year old. I work while my youngest naps, while my kids sleep, and also my oldest gets paid to play with her sister so I can work at night sometimes.
I work at home so my children don't have to have babysitters, daycares, and so I can go to school things.
mommy4ever 03-26-2008, 05:11 PM Have you considered providing childcare? I don't know about your area, but I get $650-700 per child for full time, and $40/day for part time. I start at approx 7am, and they are gone at 5pm. I'm here for my kids at all times. My kids have gotten interact with a whole gammut of age groups, and for the most part, it's been awesome. No sleep deprivation unless my own kids are up at night. My evenings and weeknds are my own. I can book days off when needed. Infact, for this fall, I have it written into my contract that then can expect I take 2 day soff a month(no pay) so that I can attend to my own appointments and school events. Everyone is ok with that.
Just a thought.
mmy2grls 03-26-2008, 06:01 PM I thought of that before. I don't think i'm cut out for that.
