The Joy of Cooking says that usually egg whites and yolks are stored seperately so remove them from the shells. For a short period of time they can be stored in ice cube trays. But for long term storage you will have to stabilize the yolks because they will become pasty after defrosting, They recommend that you store them in pint containers 16whites=pint 24yolks= pint 10whole eggs=pint. To each pint add 1 teaspoon salt if you are making something unsweetened, 1 teaspoon of sugar if you are making desserts with the eggs. I would just store them whole, 10 eggs plus 1 teaspoon of salt or sugar depending on what I wanted to do with them:)
Hope this helps,
Nealy
