Today is my anniversary.
We don't exchange gifts, we have everything we need... etc, etc.
We would just exchange cards. But you have to admit... the "here's your card" thing is not so exciting.
So, we've been doing something a bit different. This will apply to all card situations- like birthday, valentines day.
The card we get has to be hidden in a place that will be found by the other. It can only be found on 'the day'. Not the day before and god forbid! not the day after! :couch::
It can't be placed out in the open- like in your chair- that's equivalent to handing it to you. Boring! rolleyes:
So, the challenge is this. You have to know what the routine of the person is. You have to know what that person is going to do on that day. Everyday might be a little different, so you'd have to anticipate what might occur. You can't put it in the same spot as previous, unless you've devised a different plan.
Here are some examples of what we've done. On 2/14/08 Valentine's Day, we were in Jamaica. DH was to golf, I was sunning. I gave my card to his golf partner who was to give it to his caddy who will give it to my husband on the "14th" hole. DH was a bit shocked and wondered why his (female) caddy was giving him a card. All got a kick out of it.
Another example. Today, DH anticipated I would have my afternoon tea- so the card sat perched in the tea cupboard. I snuck his card into his laptop before he left for work... and he got it while at work.
Another time, he rigged my underwear drawer (I guess he was hoping I would change my underwear) to spring out the card. It was a good attempt at a hugh paper cut!
Another time, I hung his card from the ceiling at precisely the point of where he'd wake and stand so that his card would tap him on the head. Of course it would be dark in the room so the tap would be a bit... 'curious' shall we say? Try pinning that to the ceiling in the middle of the night! I had marked it earlier in the week and checked it's location each morning on rising.
Another time, I gave the card to his secretary who slipped it into his paperwork. D... I Love You. coming from the secretary... just makes me laugh!
Once he anticipated that I would use my bike that day- and put it on my seat.
Final rule. You shouldn't have to 'search' for it. You should come across it- because the other was thinking about what you'd be doing all day.
