I was thinking on this today while baking bread and I have to admit, other than quilting, baking bread as got to be at the top.

I love kneading it, smelling the dough when its rising, shaping it into loaves and then smelling it cooking. I love taking it out of the oven and lacing it with butter and watching the kids munching on the fresh made buns.

What is your favorite activity?

I love making bread too. But homeschooling my children reminds me of the earlier settlers. I have read where they had to use the Bible to teach them to read, amazing. I don't know how they did it.

Kindred, one thing we have they didn't made it easier. They didn't have the government looking over their shoulders and saying the bible wasn't appropriate school text.
Plus things were not as technical as they are today. I do not think I could have homeschooled past 4th grade, if that far.
As it was dh was against any HSing so i didn't get to try.

Homeschooling, but I'm looking very forward to gardening. :)

I love quilting. I wish I could attend some old fashioned quilting bees. It truly brings me back to my roots to sit with the quilt and a needle and reflect on my homestead and my life.

oh gardening, I loved homeschooling while it lasted but they are on the last bits for their university degrees now so it's been a while.

I like the sense of control over my life by being able to choose what to eat, how much extra chemicals, what to use to clean with, those conscious choices. So alternate med, and organic gardening.

I like cleaning, call me strange but I really do. It's that sense of restoring order to my universe and being able to move like a spring breeze thru my house refreshing it, restoring order and simplicity to chaos.

I like doing for myself whether it's cooking, cleaning, sewing, gardening, or teaching the kids.

I love reading and a slower paced life. TV brings it's images at you so fast and choppy it is nerve wracking at times! Reading the news gives you time to filter, absorb, consider, even reject the logic of the writer or apply some reasoning to an article, to detect bias and so forth.

And handwork wether it's mending, knitting, sewing, or ironing has it's own gentle rythm that acts like a counter balance or a harmony in the day's doings.

It gives time to contemplate, think, pray, consider etc.

I think my answer should read, it's the slower pace of homesteading or simple living that gives me time to think.
