Does anyone have an embroidery machine? I am thinking of purchasing one, not an expensive one, just a basic to get me started.

I have seen a woman at our local craft shows for about 3-4 years running, she takes a picture or panel from a piece of fabric (i.e. an outdoor scene, an animal, flowers etc...) she cuts around it and satin stitches it on a sweatshirt or T-shirt, then embroiders around the neck and sometimes the cuffs. Just a simple design with a machine. She sells these for $9.95 & up for Tee's and $19.95 & up for sweatshirts.

Her booth is the absolute busiest at these craft shows! If there are 2 shows on the same day, she runs one and her husband runs the other.

So, do any of you have an embroidery machine, and have you every made money from using it?

Does this sound like a good idea??

I don't want to go back to work, outside of my home, but I have to think of something!

There is a lady in our small town that makes mega bucks with an industrial size embroidery machine. She does all sorts of hats and shirts and coats, ETC.....for companies and everything. I think it would be a great idea provided that you really like to sew.

Thanks PraireRose, I hadn't thought of doing something for a company! Yes, I love to sew, although I don't do it often enough.

I'll let you know if or when I purchase one.
