Just wondering how everyone makes their applesauce. My grandmother taught me how to make it, and it's very easy- I use an old ricer that she gave me. I wash the apples, quarter them (removing any bad spots) and then put in a big pot with a little water on the bottom. Put the lid on and cook until soft. Run through ricer, which takes out the seeds and peels. This makes a beautiful pink applesauce. I then add cinnamon and sugar to taste-just a little, we don't like our applesauce too sweet. That's why we can't eat store bought applesauce- way too sweet. My kids love this warm- they stand by the counter and dish it up as soon as it's done. I then freeze the rest to have all year long.

I use my apple peeler and just cook them as slices. When they are finished cooking down, I add just a tiny bit of sugar, and mash up the big pieces. We like chunky applesauce. I freeze it in canning jars so we have it all winter. YUM! I need to get some apples. Maybe I will take DD's to pick them.
