    Default Auto Insurance

Well I finally got the updated insurance papers for our "new" vehicle since the old one was written off ...... we went from a 1997 to a 2004 and our insurance went up almost $40 a month!!! Insane ... we are living so tight as it is .. had no idea it would increase that much!!

Wow...that's quite a jump. At least you know that you will be taken care of in case of an accident. I agree, though...hard to find the silver lining in a bill!

Have you considered shopping the policy around, or changing coverage levels? We only have comprehension & collision on our 2000 car, the 1997 is older enough that we only have liability coverage on it.

The only thing we could change is to take off collision, but I dont want to do that as we only have one vehicle and I drive out of town for work so I need that extra protection (case proven as what just happened where I was hit and ours had to be written off). It also provides for a rental in that situation (which again we need with me driving out of town for work). I had shopped around when we first got this and it was the best deal they could find for us .... I will look again this summer when it comes up again .. this year we have combined auto and home and that saved us quite a bit
