My Car
I am really bummed out. My car was totaled on Friday and I will be getting $8600 from insurance to purchase a new car.
The thing is, my car was a wonderful car and I won't be able to buy the equivalent version with the money.
I am grateful that I have insurance that will allow me to buy a new (for me) car, I just - I don't know miss my old car.
I knew all the ticks of my old car, I knew that it was in good condition, etc. This new (used) car is going to be an anomaly to me and I won't even have the distinction of being able to break it in (my old car was a new car when I purchased it).
*sigh*

I hope everyone is fine! We went through a similar when we had a deer herd run into our car. I never thought I would find a similar or better , but I did. I looked on ebay and had a reputable dealership willing to ship me the car I fell in love with at their dealership for free shipping . I opted instead for a local dealership, that had a similar luxury vehicle to the one I was replacing, it was owned by a single guy who kept impeccable records, the car in perfect shape, it had less miles and more upgrades then the one I was replacing. With the economy I was able to haggle price with them and ended up paying less then I expected and had money left to put on a yr warranty. Hope it works the same for you. Good luck to you.

My sister went through this not that long ago. She was able to find a nicer car than she already had. I hope you find a good deal and something you will be happy with.

My parents rock!
My dad was worried that I wouldn't get a good car at that price and was concerned that it wouldn't be reliable for the long commute I do, so he offered to give me his new, paid off car for the $8600 (it's worth more than that). He's going to hold the $8600 while I student teach in case I need the money and then when all is clear and I get a teaching job (I'm thinking positive thoughts) he's going to keep it.
I think that's a fair bargain.
