Default well shoot they totaled my van

I expected they would total my 98 van but they will be only giving us 3375 minus my deductible... glad I did not spend the money on fixing the airconditioner over the winter. guess I can use that 1200 for paying off debt

so now decision time buy a car for that amount??? and it will be needing some sort of repairs or take out a car loan for something newer.

I do have the money but it would mean not paying off all bills before Jan. and I really wanted to buy or next car without a car loan... bummer.

so now off we go to see what kind of interest rate we qualify for it shouldn't be too bad thank goodness

I have a feeling frugal will be out the window.

Why don't you add the $1200 you were going to use to fix the air conditioner to the amount the insurance company will be giving you? It'd give you a little more wiggle room and you might still find something cheaper than that and then you could put what is left over towards your debts.

I've never paid over $2200 for a car for myself and I have been very fortunate in picking good cars. Good luck shopping for your new car!!!

ahhh but the problem is I don't actually "have the cash in hand except for my EF at least until May

I need a hatch and a flat space as I do wedding cakes on the side and have to deliver them but I do not need a large van now my children are gone... and they have a van for when we visit. but I do need room for 2 car seats for when they visit me.

Oh, well that does pose a problem then doesn't it. Have you thought about looking at Ford Escort Station Wagons? My daughter owned one and it was a great little car until her hubby wrecked it. It got really good gas mileage, had plenty of room for car seats & had a back end that opened up. Cars are pretty reasonable around here, I paid $2200 for mine a little over 2 years ago from a private party. Sometimes you can get them cheaper from individuals than you can car lots.
