Your right, I have heard of oiling and buttering the bowl, but I think that may be why mine gets so crusty and overdone on the crust !!!!!!!!! Good luck, have fun !!!!!! You are still such a girl scout !!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Cj, I was going to knead again. Man I hope this works, my family is laughing at me. I'm trying hardest to impress myself tho so it doesnt really matter. Maybe Ill be like the little red hen and eat it all myself!
Robin, its hard to say. At different altitudes its different. The first rising you should let it rise until double in bulk. Watch it though because I've had it rise right over the bowl. :toothy:
The second rising doesn't take as long.
No matter what it tastes like, its something you've done for yourself and I'm so proud of you. Wait until it starts baking, your family will all be admiring you and once it comes out of the oven, mmmmmm good, especially with butter on it!!
My loaf pans are small so I made a pan of rolls too. I decided that if the dough rises again the same way, it would have been too much for the pan, so I made some rolls too.
Darn I wish I could find that cord for my camera!
Making turkey soup too, this house smells like Martha lives here
Good for you!! I make the Cuban Bread recipe from the Tightwad gazzette complete edition. It is super easy and only takes a hour and a half from start to finish. What we don't eat I use to make crutons. I got that recipe from T. G. too. Let us know how it turns out.
Mmmmmm. . . . . . you're gonna love it, and so will your family. I love making bread by hand. I have a bread machine but rarely use it. I prefer to take out my frustrations while kneading.
