    Default Any other beaders?

Hmmm...this particular area seems a bit underused. Are there any other beaders out here?

I love stringing beads to make people and window jewelry. And I also do some wire and bead sculptures that can be made into jewelry or magnets or window art. Mostly I just love fiddling with beads.

When I glanced at the title I thought it read Are there any breeders? I must be tired.

I used to love beading. Sitting in front of the tv and just vegging. I now dont just because my DD love to get into everything. When they are older I will pick it up again.

I love beading! And I hit the local tag sales for older, 'granny' beads (I adore vintage things) with which I make jewelry for Family & Friends.

I'm a wanna be beader! DD is trying to get into it as a hobby. She is 11. Any beading books you suggest? I don't know anyone personally who beads. I did teach her the other day how to make paper beads. They are cute, but they don't appeal to her. I saw some beautiful paper mache beads the other day and I MUST do this. I loved them. They were so earthy and organic looking

It's gotten so popular lately, I bet you could find some books at the library. Check magazines too, sometimes they have a "basics" section that will teach you the simple bits. I've learned most of what I know from magazines, I guess I'm sort of a buffett mentality when it comes to learning how to craft. And believe it or not, I've found some craft tutorials on youtube. I do suggest that an adult do the initial lookup on those though; there's a lot of stuff on youtube that's not appropriate for 11 year olds!

Beware of the "free" beginner classes sometimes offered by local bead stores. The one near us offers these, but you have to buy the supplies from them and their markup is HUGE. Michaels sometimes offers classes, and even though they charge for them and then you buy supplies on top of that, it's cheaper.
