I made a snowball payment toward dh's car loan today for $1,120.00. Then I got a reciept and the balance is $1,815.70! Wow! That means that I only have that much more until my 2009 goal of paying off both cars and the 401K loan is finished! So, I am estimating that we'll have the car paid off by November 19th...maybe earlier! I am so so happy at this progress we've made. Now, back to my last entry where I wondered if I could take a $15,000 cut in pay? Well, we've paid over $18,000 + interest ...
I came upon a job opportunity this week that fits what I am looking for....a real accounting job. The title is Payroll/Purchashing Accountant. After reading through the job description, I really thought I was going to love doing it. Well, I found out the pay is $15,000 a year less than what I am making now....that really took me back. I had to start weighing pros and cons... Pros: Stable job (no layoff chance) Close to my house (5 minute commute instead ...
About a year and a half ago, I let a co-worker talk me into going to her salon to get my hair cut and highlighted. Well, I hadn't gotten my hair cut in 8-9 months before. It was really nice to have it cut and I did like the highlights. I kept going back because I liked it and was paying $100 every 12-16 weeks for the color weave and $40 every 8 weeks for a haircut. I stopped really "liking" getting my hair colored earlier this year, mainly because it's so dang expensive!! So, one ...
I recently started taking classes Aug 31st at H & R Block for their Income Tax course. I have been interested in getting into tax preparation and signed up for the class. I have the knowledge I gained through my classes from college, but that has been several years ago and I have not applied any of it. So, I thought what better way to earn extra cash and get some experience in a job that could turn into a great opportunity once I'm laid off. The classes have been pretty basic ...
Well, 192 days until my job as I know it is officially gone. That's basically 6 months. I am taking full advantage of the extra long lead time that I have been given. I have assessed our situation and here's what we need to do. 1) Save up as much money as possible between now and then. We have about $6,000 in savings at this time, we're shooting for about $10,000 more. 2) Finish paying off Dh's car like we set out to do in 2009. We are making good progress at this ...
