Long time, no speak.

I have been super busy over the last few weeks, hence the lack of updates from me.

Well I and DBF got the keys for our flat that we bought at the end of April and since then we have been cleaning and decorating like crazy. The first 2 days there we cleaned all the surfaces and floors - it hadn't been lived in for a number of years, so it was all covered in grim. Yuck!

I spent the best part of a day scrubbing the bathroom clean, it was a nearly new bathroom suite just needed a good clean.

As we have gone along we have picked up some deals along the way, my dad tiled the bathroom for us, the tiles that we are going to get was £5.92 a pack of 20 we went back the next day to get them, and they had been discounted to £2.96 a pack due to it being a bank holiday weekend. So we got more than we originally wanted as we could tile for less money, there was an offer on in store that if you spent more than £50 on that day you would get a 10% off discount card to use as many times as you like for the month of may, we got the discount and it saved us just over £5, but in the end we got 2 boxes of tiles for free.

DBF's dad is wallpapering the living / dinner and the bedroom, we gave him the discount card and as well as the wallpaper he got a few other things and he said that the total came up to £120 but saved £12 due to the 10% so we ended up getting 2 rolls of wallpaper free (were 5.99 a roll)

We have been gifted a few items along the way too, so far we have:
Cooker (DBF's parentsí old appliance)
Fridge / Freezer (DBF's parentsí old appliance)
Pine TV stand (from a friend)
A 28 inch Sony TV (from a guy my dad helped)
Underlay (which was in my loft, has been for years)
Lots of free paint
Bread maker
George Forman grill
Dining chairs

While we were at the tip earlier getting rid of the rubbish I picked up a perfectly good stool which I will sand down and repaint.

Also got a few things from the pound shop, a US cups measuring cups - perfect for all the recipes that I want to try that are all in US cups and not weights. A new doorbell and I got a great deal on energy saving light bulbs - a pack of 5 Philips / British Gas bulbs for 0.50! So I bought 4 packets and got a total of 20 bulbs for 2.00.

One of the good things in the flat is that all the windows still have the original curtain poles up in every room so all I have to buy is hooks and curtains and just put them, straight up.

We are getting a new boiler and the one that is there is the original one, its 40 years old and knackered so we are getting a energy efficient combi boiler and all new radiators, my parents have offered to pay for this - which will be about 2400 but I have said that if we ever moved out we would give them the cash back for it.

I have a friend who works in a carpet shop so I can hopefully get a discount for buying from him.
