Hardcore Saving

In less that a year, I will be moving out-of-province with my bf and two kids. It is going to be a big move for us, especially since it will mean many lifestyle changes. I am going back to school to study Business Marketing and Management. Currently, I am a Bakery/Restaurant Manager. I hope to one day open my own store.

So, this move means I have to bank a substantial amount of money. The only way to do that is with some hardcore saving. This is what I have done so far:
- Cancelled the cable and internet. This saves me about $78/mth. I use the free wireless at the library.
- Stopped eating meals out. Every week I treat myself to a nice coffee at my favourite coffee shop, and that's all.
- Stopped giving the kids for treats every time they ask. Now I tell them "sorry, I just don't have the money today."
- Started supplementing my grocery shopping by harvesting local nuts and grapes. This doesn't amount to killer savings but it's fun.
- Selling unused items I have around. Like that Stepper excercizer I used a handful of times.
- Cut out the junk food and switched to healthier, cheaper choices. I've rediscovered the taste of freshly picked apples
- Gathering all my change and putting it in the bank. If it isn't lying around the house then I won't spend it.
- Sticking to my frugal guns and using as little as necessary of expensive products and services.

It's all about baby steps, as far as I'm concerned. With luck I will save enough money to tide us over for a few months after the move. Wish me luck!
