Christmas Has Come Early

A week or so ago, my bf and I were discussing Christmas. He asked me what I want for Christmas this year and I answered " one of those metal thingys that go across the bathtub so that you can have a candle, a book and your bath supplies within easy reach....and a bath pillow."
Then, three days ago, I quit my job.
I've been okay with my decision. There's enough cash flow from other income sources that our basic needs will be met. I need to take some time off from the hectic bump-and-grind of the working world and focus on my health....both mental and physical. And, I hope to pick up a part-time job for "extra" money.
Anyway, this also means that Christmas will be lean this year. I already have the supplies to knit everyone a gift. In fact, I have two projects completed already. I had told the family that I was being ultra-frugal this year and making one item for everyone, and then giving a fun stocking full of goodies. I'm sticking to this plan...sort of. Maybe the stockings will be a little less full than previously imagined.
So, here we are, my bf and I, out for a walk this evening. The air is crisp, the leaves are still damp from the snow we had yesterday. We're chatting, holding hands...and through the dark I see it....a long piece of metalwork at the side of the road. Someone had a small stack of odds and ends put out for garbage pick up, and what should be at the top of the pile but....one of those thingys that you put across the bathtub to hold your stuff...the very thing I was asking for Christmas! It needs a bit of a polish but it's in excellent condition! It's like an early Christmas gift from Santa!
Now that I have what I wanted for Christmas, I can honestly say, that even though I have a major decrease in my income, I don't want for anything. I have everything I've ever wanted and needed. A roof over my head, food in my belly, two wonderful kids, a great bf...and a bath thingy![]()
