I think I actually did it!

So. We have an apple tree that produced a lot of apples this year, after nothing last year. The apples are kind of small and tart, but not crab apples. We've also had a bumper crop of rhubarb - have harvested it three times this year already and on Saturday we harvested about another 26 cups (diced in one-inch pieces). So, I decided to try something new.
I made apple-rhubarb jam. Well, I set out to make that. What I actually ended up making is more like apple-rhubarb pie jam.
We had a box of new jars and lids that have been kicking around the house for years, un-used. I don't have any other canning/perserving tools but I do have some killer big cooking pots, so I jumped in with both feet
I think that I was successful - I have 11 250ml Mason jars full of something that looks (and, luckily enough) tastes like rhubarb-apple pie
I don't currently have photo storage space online, but I'll add it to my 'To Do' list.
Also, in my jam/pie filling making frenzy, I completely forgot all about my beloved camera and so I only have pictures of a bunch of sealed jars, but next time, I'll not forget.
I found out though, that I really quite enjoyed perserving.I can't WAIT to start planning my garden for next year. This was my first year actually growing veggies etc and I learned a tonne. I did well this year, but next year, I'm going to totally rock the garden.
