It was a busy weekend. But My highlight was when my daughter received an unexpected award at the awards banquet of Volunteer of the year award. We expected her athlete accomplishments to be highlighted and they were, but it was nice that all her extra work was also acknowledged. She is always the first to pull up her sleeves to get to work when something needs doing. she is only 18 but has a great work ethic. She was given a beautiful plaque and a long sleeve merino wool layer top. She was thrilled, because she had been bidding on one in the silent auction and it had quickly gone higher than she could afford.
I bid on a months family pass at the dinner to our recreation centre and got it for $20! It is worth $120, even just a few swims and we will have made our money and then some!
I also won a T-shirt and a training manual as door prizes.
Today, I took my daughter and her friend to a free skate for children with diabetes. They had a blast, and the food ( a few snacks they said...) was amazing, lovely fruit, cheeses, popcorn, treats etc.
Everything was free including parking, food, drinks, face painting photos, skating with Santa etc.
And I won a $10 GC to the bay!
I did go shopping this weekend for groceries. I spent $79.
So my amount spent for the week was $79/125 so far.. but I got 17,000 shoppers drug mart points also. Which is a $25 value. But I won't subtract it from the cost. At this point and just call it a bonus.
Daughter is having a sleep over with her friend tonight. I made lasagna, and they watched a borrowed DVD (from my SiL).
It was a good and inexpensive weekend.
Oh I almost forgot. I got two bags of clothes from freecycle. And there were some great clothes in it for me! Great tank tops, sweatshirts, and a very dressy and elegant cardigan and black wool dresspants... I love it!
