Here's to a happier and healthier new year for anyone reading this post. Let's try to be kinder to ourselves and others this year.
Most of us have set goals for 2015. We will start out highly motivated in obtaining these goals and our motivation will at some point dwindle and we may feel like quitting. Don't be too hard on yourself when this happens, take a break if needed. Start over when you're ready, as many times as you need. Don't stress over it, take one day at a time and forgive yourself as often as needed. This forum is a great place to challenge ourselves, post our progress and struggles, and motivate each other.
Start with setting an obtainable goal with specific measures you will take to meet it. Setting daily goals for meeting a longer term goal will help you see progress and keep you focused. For example I want to improve my overall physical health and get my blood cholesterol levels to normal range. I have started by setting a goal of drinking more water. My goal is 64 oz a day. It is obtainable. I make the water available by keeping cold water in the refridgerator and water bottles in the car and desk at work.
Keep a journal of your progress and struggles and post reminders to yourself of your short and long term goals and why they important to you. Review your journal entries often. For example I have found by drinking more water and less diet coke, I sleep better and have fewer food cravings. This keeps me motivated. Reward yourself occasionally for meeting your goals. Be proud of your accomplishments and tell us about it so we can WTG or Hug you! We can learn from each other as well and maybe our success stories will motivate others.
May we all find joy and good health in our journey through 2015!
