Venison Stew, and I'm Back!

Oh, hasn't it been busy lately! What with passing my driving test (finally) and getting a car, learning how to use it and some other personal challenges it hasn't left a lot of time for much, to be honest. I will say one thing: cooking really does relax me. I didn't realise how much until lately, but I find it more therapeutic and liberating than reading or going for a walk. The thought that someone will like what I've cooked, perhaps inspire them or make them feel warm and comfortable, makes me feel happy.

I know, I'm strange.

Today, I've been lazy but also quite productive. While the slow cooker (crock pot) has been bubbling away with a venison stew to turn into pie filling for tonight's tea, I pottered around and got the ironing done (all the while watching programmes about making Indian food easy to make). Then venison went in with some bacon chunks, garlic, herbs, stock cube, onions, mushrooms and red wine - bliss. Then I made some chocolate mousses in little glass ramekins - we'll have one each tonight and the remaining 6 have gone into the freezer to have whenever we fancy a posh dessert. I've also made some mango cupcakes but they haven't turned out so well - they've sunk and taste more like batter than cake. Next time I shall chop the fruit into chunks rather than adding puree! You live and learn with cookery. Evolution.

Take care all. I have missed you!
