So, I've saved my pennies and I went to Lowes today to see freezers. I wanted an upright so bad, but I've only budgeted 250 for a freezer and that has to include the sales tax. I found a 7.0 cubic feet chest freezer at Lowes for $198 so with sales tax it should hopefully bring me near that limit. We need a freezer, badly and so far I've not been sucessful in finding on free anywhere and I can't wait on this anymore. I'm trying to get to only shopping once monthly for EVERYTHING including milk. I need to figure out how well yogurt cups freeze and thaw out. I wrote down a menu for 21 meals for the month with the idea to make a few twice or on the days when something may take two days to eat. If I do 99% of my shopping at Aldis (John only drinks Pepsi and eats Yoplait yogurt so I would still have to hit a normal grocer) I should be able to do it for around 300ish and I rounded everything up so it may be less. I figure we would save gas if I shopped once a month, plus having a 3 yr old shop with me is hard exspcially at Aldi's because you have to pack your own groceries. Bi-weekly I would have to run to the farmer's market (which on Sunday they have a local one within walking distance) and get fresh fruit though. Hopefully I can get the miser husband to crack open the wallet...it creaks...haha.
I've been extending our milk budget by replacing half of the gallon with powdered milk when it's half empty. At first John was not on board with the idea, till I did it behind his back. After he drunk his glass I told him he drank half powdered and he was surprised because he couldn't tell. Score one for me!
Darn rain has made it impossible to hang out laundry. It only wants to be sunny around 4pm when the sun isnt in my backyard anymore. Dang.
So yah....short update..been awhile.
Cleaned out the pantry last weekend because of the mice issue. Looks freaking fantastic! I'm so happy to walk in and be able to find anything and then walk out without tripping over junk or worrying about an avalanche of junk falling on me trying to get a pan. I need to take pics.
Peace out!
