Tonight's Crockpot Dinner

Tonight, I'm using the crockpot for dinner again. This morning, I stopped into the store to buy batteries and ibuprofen. Since I had to go into the back of the store to hit the pharmacy counter (I use my flexible spending account debit card for medicines and so it's easier just to hit it that way), I stopped in to see what was on the discount meat rack. I picked up three packs of "gourmet" italian sausages - two mild and one hot. Normal price? $5.49 per package (each package holds four). I got them for $0.99 per package. Then, I went over to see if they had anything in the "discount lunch meat" section... they didn't, but sauerkraut was on sale over there for $2.49 (large jar is normally at least fifty cents more).
So, now, in the crockpot, we have two of the packages of sausage and the sauerkraut, along with two small chopped up apples. If hubby doesn't like the apple - he might not as I left the skin on - he can pick it out and give it to me. They were starting to go south, so they needed to be used. Dinner for two for right around $5 isn't bad in my book. In addition, there'll probably be enough leftovers for at least one or maybe both of us to have for lunch tomorrow.
