Orange Lillies

DH and I woke up today to see two orange lillies had blossomed in our garden and that means just one thing.
Our anniversary is just around the corner. July 7th.
We've been married 2 years and the first year was just miserable, I was so ready to quit, so angry and frustrated with my husband and where I thought our life was going, or failing to go. I am so glad I stuck it out. I can't believe how much MORE I love him than the day we were married, how much deeper the love goes and how much stronger it has made me.
Our wedding planning was stressful, lots of family drama, too many cooks in the kitchen. DH had one request, that we use orange lillies, like the ones we find everywhere in New England in early July. 6 days before our wedding, our reception site told us they had to cancel because of some problems with the neighbors. We were so upset, I cried my eyes out, and thought we would have to postpone the wedding (by that time we were telling people "we just want to get this wedding over with!"). In the end a very nice friend of the B&B owner said we could use their home and gardens (a beautiful mansion by the water). When we went to see the house the first time, the driveway was lined with orange lillies. To us, it was a sign this place was meant to be.
In the end, I had the priest I wanted to perform the ceremony, a location with a water view, a crystal clear day despite a bad forecast, and hundreds and hundreds of orange lillies in the garden. Our wedding went from total disaster, to completely perfect in every way.
We felt our loved ones in heaven had pulled all the right strings to make our day perfect. And the orange lillies we saw when we woke up this morning reminded me just how blessed we are, and that we still have angels watching over us.
