I posted to the forums that I did get the job I wanted, but I will summarize again for my blog.
This past week I received an offer from the company I have been contracting with since October. I was not excited about the offer. They were offering a salary comparable to what I was making when I lived in Portland, OR. The position also was not very exciting. I would be more behind-the scenes and not working so much with project teams (which is what I used to do - work with project teams).
I knew that if I did not receive an offer from the other company I had been interviewing with, then of course I was going to accept the offer.
Well, it turns out the other company did extend me an offer and I accepted. Everything about this position and company seem "right" for me right now, so I am really excited.
This week I will spend wrapping up some projects I am working on for the company I am leaving and will begin in my new position on Monday the 24th.
I spent a little bit of time shopping this weekend. Both of my past two jobs (the company in Portland and the company I am contracting with) are/were casual work environments, and my new position requires a more professional look. I will be "influencing the office culture" as the only senior consultant on staff, so I am trying to find an *affordable* professional wardrobe. I had a bit of luck shopping this weekend as most stores were having AMAZING sales (40-50% off everything including sale prices). I am trying to start with 5 pairs of slacks. Currently I have:
1 brown and 1 dressy denim - I am thinking maybe a pair of grey and 1-2 pairs of black.
Those pieces I am focusing on first. Of course, I hope to continue to find reasonably priced items.
I am tracking my spending, so I have an idea of what I spend on my new wardrobe.
Denim Pants - $53.70 (orig. $76.71)
Brown slacks - $26.33 (orig. $96.58)
Suit Jacket - $52.67 (orig. $250.23)
Sweater - $26.33 (orig. $87.25)
Chinos - $27.65 (orig. $65.30)
