    I am trying to use this long weekend to get the house ship-shape, before I head back to work on Tuesday.

    First, make up some more hummingbird food, because I'm dangerously low, and those hummers are aggressive! Then, while that is cooling, breakfast to everyone else. After that, I need to start tackling today's "to do" chores, including cleaning the bathroom and finishing up the kitchen. Put the laundry away, give the whole floor a good sweep, and then I will at least feel ...

    1. Do my morning exercise
    2. Vitamins
    3. Turn off heat lamp over pipes
    4. Feed dogs breakfast
    5. Give Chewy his meds
    6. Feed parrots breakfast and change water
    7. Feed bunnies and check water
    8. Check/change food and water on parakeets and finches
    9. Turn off heat lamp in finches room
    10. Feed fish
    11. Feed goats/donkeys
    12. Medicated cookie to Girl
    13. Medicated cookie to Buddy
    14. Medicated cookie to Dusty
    15. Feed chickens and change water
    16. Check wild bird feeders and refill as necessary
    17. Check hummer feeders

  3. Venison Stew, and I'm Back!

    Oh, hasn't it been busy lately! What with passing my driving test (finally) and getting a car, learning how to use it and some other personal challenges it hasn't left a lot of time for much, to be honest. I will say one thing: cooking really does relax me. I didn't realise how much until lately, but I find it more therapeutic and liberating than reading or going for a walk.     Lots of work this week, getting ready for spring.

    I sprayed down the dormant fruit trees with copper sulfate, to help keep peach curl and blight away. The mixture also has an insecticide in it, to kill overwintering insects. This is the first year I am trying this, mostly because I don't like using chemicals on my trees, but the peach and nectarine trees have been getting progressively worse cases of curl, resulting in NO fruit last year, and it was either treat them or destroy them ...
