  1. Oh yay, we have a "blog" feature!!!

    Getting our finances under control was *the* big goal I made for myself this year, and with so many things that's happened, it's been a bit difficult to keep on top of my budget.

    But I pulled it out again last week, and updated amounts and wrote down all our bills, etc., etc.

    The good thing is, that we have money to pay all of our bills, with some left over, the bad news is, we've had to use some of our EF, during the move and getting settled.
    Which really stinks. ...

  2. A Little Bit about myself

    I'm new this blogging thing, so bear with me as I explain who I am.

    I am a big hockey fan, mostly because of my husband. When we met he had season tickets to the local hockey team and played roller hockey. So, I now go to all the games for the local hockey team and also to most of his games. Last year, we got involved with the Booster Club. Dh know's a couple people in it, the current VP and his wife.   3. Observing My Internal Shopaholic in Her Natural Habitat

    Yesterday, I went for long walk around my neighbourhood, stopping it one of my favorite thrift shops ($2.99 linen pants - booya!)...after I finished treasure hunting in the thrift store I walked up the street for about 5 minutes, and was met with a gigantic cloud burst...the only nearby place to shelter was Winners, which if you know me, you will realize is for me what alcohol and powerful men were to Marilyn Monroe (I am powerless!).

  4. Alcohol, the Enemy of Frugality

    So this week I have been completely true to living frugally. I have stopped carrying my debit card with me, which as been a huge adjustment, and have been living off cash. As a result I have $300 in my savings account versus the usual $300 overdraft in my chequing account.

    Here's a lsit of changes I have made that allowed me to get this result:
    -carry lunch to work with me
    -drink the staff room coffee instead of Tim Horton's
    -walk instead of paying for public ...

  5. Checks are coming in handy

    Well the 2 jobs are coming in handy. I just do not like not seeing my kids much. Even though they are older.It is real nice to get a large check each week.to help pay bills. I have another 3k in tuition payment coming up. My older daughter has 2 more classes fall to hopefully finish up at least her AA degree. My other daughter in Austin finally got a job, so she can save up for the wedding. I am trying to save for the wedding, I am aiming for around 15k but not sure I will be able to do it. I am ...
