a musical weekend

It's been a very musical weekend. Saturday was ODD's recital. She played "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" carter style. It wasn't the best I've ever heard her play it, but it was very good. Her favorite piece that she heard played was "The Entertainer". She really does prefer jazz and blues...I can live with that.
Saturday morning I ran errands and stopped at Music Go Round to check on prices for cymbals and other drum stuff for MDD. I found a nice autoharp; now I don't have to go crazy trying to learn how to play my uke and sing for singalongs! I can give the uke back to DH since he likes it better and is better able to play such things. I played several songs last night and it's so easy.
Sunday the church choir reprised "The Snow" by Elgar. It's a wonderful piece, typically done with 2 violins and piano but we couldn't get both violin players (yes, we have two but both weren't available) so we did it with flute, piano and violin. It went well.
Sunday night I got an e-mail from my stepmom. Way back when DH and I first moved in together we had a spinet piano. It wasn't really a good fit for our lifestyle, so we gave it to stepmom's former housemate. Well, housemate is moving and wondered if we'd like to have it back. We'd need to hire movers for it, and then get it tuned and she said the damper needs to be repaired.
I will do the responsible thing. If it seems too expensive we'll give it a miss. It's like getting a free dog when you know you can't afford vet care; I don't want to do that. It doesn't make sense to hijack the debt reduction train over a 'free' piano.
But oh, how I want the piano. I know exactly where it will go, which furniture we'd need to move around.
