    Some days...

I just made this, but when I wrote down the recipe, I wrote it called for 1/2 c. water instead of the correct amount, 1 1/2 c. But it still turned out good after I worked in some more water. I'll be using this recipe again, correctly! I really like that it's so quick and makes a nice amount. Tasty, too!

    Thanks for posting.

It's probably just me since I've never baked bread before....it was edible, almost yummy in fact, but it looked like it had been through the wringer! It looked like someone had taken a store-bought french bread loaf & roughly cut off all the crust and then made it a little lumpier!

But I guess practice makes perfect.

Did you cut slits in the top of the loaf? I have had this happen with the Pillsbury french bread when I put it in in a hurry and forget to slice the top.

Also, to those asking, I would think that you could replace the honey with an equal amount of white sugar. I do not think a sugar substitute would be good because the yeast feeds off the sugars and there is none in the substitutes. JMO though as this is not my recipe.

I did cut slits in the top, with a knife though, not with a razor like it said. Should it look like the store-bought french bread? Hubby liked it, I just didn't like how it looked.

I made this today as my first excursion into breadmaking. I think there was bit too much flour on the outside of the loaf, but it was servicable, much better than I expected from a first attempt.

I have to say this has become a new standard recipe at our house. It makes awesome breadsticks. Add garlic or cinnamon/sugar as you choose.

~Mixed results on this one. I thought the texture was rubbery and too biscuit-like. Dh said it was very doughy and awesome. I think he liked the extra yeast.
I'm sticking with my French bread recipe that takes 30 more minutes. It's worth it to get the texture I like.~
