Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt; Set aside
In a second bowl beat egg, oil, milk, almond extract with whisk/mixer until smooth.
Add to flour mixture & mix only until moistened.
Stir in poppy seeds
Spoon into muffin cups, topping each with slivered almonds and large sugar crystals (both optional)
Bake at 350 for 30mins or until golden brown on top
