Thumbs up This mamma was some proud

Almost 15 years ago, a pediatrician told me not to save any money for dd's college education because she would never amount to anything, due to her disability. I walked out of that office, madder than a wet hen and changed pediatricians.

How I wish he would have seen dd at her musical recital on Sun. He would have been eating his words.

Dd is very shy and was very nervous. Not only did she have to play in front of a crowd, but also a Manitoba composer. She also had to say what song she was playing "Mr. Roger's Flute".

She did and played like she had played in front of audiances all her life. I was so proud of her. After the recital was over her music teacher came over and said how well she did and how proud she was of her.

It's a good think I didn't have buttons on my top because I would have popped them all.

Only goes to show that "specialists" don't always make the right diagnosis!!

    Give her my Congratulations CJ!
The most disabling thing about disabilities are the labels and the low expectations! Every person is unique and a label is just a generalization.
Way to go CJ. In believing in her.

    Wonderful new CJ! WTG Chelsea!!!!!!

I heard this saying off the Home, OH I can't think of the name. But you all know it. Where Ty and his crew build people new homes. Anyways, this lady adopted a bunch of children who had some sort of disability. She said "They don't have disabilities, they have DIFFERENT ABILITIES"

Ugh, I hope you wrote a fine and wordy letter to your Health Board over THAT comment. In fact, write your old pediatrician a letter and tell him all about this! Things like that severely peeve me off!!!

But congradulations to your DS, and you have every right to be proud of your baby.

That's wonderful, cj. You *should* be proud...I would have been too. And 50 lashes with a wet noodle on that doctor It's a good thing people like you don't accept such pessimistic labeling.

Sort of reminds me of that old saying "living well is the best revenge". I'm so happy for you both Cj. Thank goodness you were there for her all these years.

Too bad you can't take her back to the "specialist" and show him how wrong he/she was!
