    Hi Aimeebee.

We buy our cocoa in bulk but for stove top I use the old Hershey recipe on the tin. I alter it slightly and put a small amount of water in the saucepan ( sorry just eyeball it and always turns out probably 1/2 cup to cup depending on how much I make that day) to that I add:

    1/2 Cup Sugar
    1/3 baking Cocoa
    4 cups of milk
    1/4 teaspoon of Cinnamon
bring to a slow boil making sure not to let burn .

We love it . We can't have HCF syrup nor do we use the creamers so this works for us , hope this helps.

I also have a dry version for when I am in a hurry.

Angel, would you mind sharing your dry recipe?
I would really like something that I can store in a container and just use whenever someone gets in the mood for cocoa.

    Thanks bunches!

When I tried making my own cocoa mix it didn't dissolve the way that the instant mixes do. Any ideas on that? I think it was the cocoa powder not dissolving.

We get cocoa mix very cheaply at Aldi so I haven't tried to make my own lately, that was back in the day before Aldi was in our area.

I've read that if you whiz it in your blender, food processor, or even a magic bullet would work, it will help to make it into a finer consistency?
I've never tried it myself but I know the little packets that I buy are ground pretty fine.

I tried the one I posted originally, and it dissolved with no problem, so I'm not sure, because mine uses cocoa powder, as well.

I will add a tiny bit of pepermint extract to my cocoa mix. I also use it as creamer for coffee.

We have always used the Tightwad Gazette Recipe when we can't get a box free with a doubled coupon. But thanks to the poster on the Paula Dean Recipe. It looks so rich and we are going to be trying it.
