Question Question for those who've purchased a camper...

~I'm wondering if the online NADA values for campers and RV's are close to what you paid for your used rv/camper. I would think the slowdown of the economy would drive values lower and I might be able to get a better bargain than the guide suggests. We just started shopping for a pop-up camper for a Fall trip so I have some time to shop but we found one for sale nearby that's very much what I wanted. Just wondering if I should try to haggle the price lower?TIA!~

It never hurts to haggle on the price! When we bought our camper 3 years ago, we only paid 1/2 the book value on it, but he was only asking 1K more than we paid. I've found, just from looking at the ads around here, that if you purchase from a private seller, there isn't much reason to pay more than 1/2-3/4 of the book value. Most people just want to get rid of them.

We purchased a pop-up with a potty in it - we can claim it as a 2nd home (vacation home) on our taxes. That is something to consider while shopping around.

I would definitely haggle on the price. People are trying to sell them because of gas prices, they can't afford to tow them.

I would definitely be haggling if I was buying right now. With the price of gas and diesel people are trying desperately to get rid of them - which I think is just so so sad I understand, of course, but camping has been my family's avenue for vacations. We love camping! I don't know how NADA compares to the actual value, but I know you should be getting some good deals right now!
