Hi everyone! We made it back from our 1st camping trip of the season! We were gone for a week...traveling southern IN. We visited Parke County covered bridges, Crawfordsville, Vincinnes, French Lick, & West Baden Springs. Good time....but it rained every day!!!!!!!! NOT JUST RAIN... but poured. Since we have a truck camper....hubby got soaked setting it up, we got soaked going to the restroom, SNOWED ON SUNDAY!, had to hang up soaked jackets & umbrellas in our little truck camper- which had wet floors! Did I also tell you--camping spots were filled with puddles? OK-enuff of that. I made sloppy joes to take, along with brats, hot dogs, chicken & dressing, soup, pan cookies, cheese ball. We spent $59 on eating out that week. The highest campground was 40$ KOA, down to 15$ at a lovely county park. Visited/toured many museums, homes, churches. Thank God for sleeping bags, little cool in the evening. Have fun on your camping trips!!!!!!!! ps.. I forgot to tell ya..... the Sunday it snowed.. we got back to the campground and the campground didn't have electric for 4 hrs due to high winds... which I boiled h2o for warmth..... ....oh my.
okay.. that's funny! It brings back memories.
When we used to camp.. same thing. We dubbed it the Annual Frugal nurse Family Vacation - hope it doesn't rain!"
Friends and family would ask us... 'when are you going away?"
this way the knew what week NOT to take a vacation.
Sorry to hear of the rain.. but happy you got to do things anyway.
Rain makes me want to snuggle.

Sounds like fun! haha... We purchased a used pop up camper a couple of months ago...we will be driving 13 hours to Roaring RIver State Park in Missouri for a week next month. I am excited to go..hopefully the weather will cooperate. Anyone been to that park and can give some tips or info?

Sounds like you all had fun and made great memories! Glad you are home safe and sound considering everything that is going on with the rain and flooding!
Quite the adventure! Hope your next trip has the sun shining on you.

Oh man that brings back the nightmare of a camping trip we had 5 yrs ago. We set out for 2 weeks minus 3 days at a resort of tent camping. The entire 2 weeks even at the resort it rained. We went from NJ to NY to Virginia and every state it rained. OMG it was horrible setting up the tent in the rain, eating in the rain, sleeping in the rain and to boot we took with us 2 cranky wet kids
Wow..that sounds like an adventure...I live in Northern Indiana...I am pretty sure we didn't get any snow in June..I am so sorry you did down south...It really does sound like you made the best of it. WAY TO GO!!!
