Homemade oil lamp
Here is a great idea for a homemade oil lamp. Quite creative, cheap to make and could be decorated so cute!

Debbie,
THANK YOU! I can make these when the power goes out. I usually have enough "household" water (for toliets mostly) and I always have olive oil. If I punch the holes first and make the wicks, then all I'll have to do is soak the wicks, add the oil, and light the lamp.
Thank you again!!!

You're welcome Judi! I thought it was pretty cool and very frugal and who doesn't need light when the power goes out?

We used to make these all the time when we were first married, it was the in thing to do. Corning even had a special candle thing and all, but we made them like that. It's good to see these things come back into the light again!
Love that blog as well!

Thanks Debbie. That is a pretty neat idea. I have a huge collection of oil lamps, so doubt I'll make one, but I loved the site and put it in my faves

I've made these and other similar ones (google soda can lamps). I use an old cotton sock, cut into strips for the wicks.
