Default Terrifyingly BIG interview tomorrow morning!!

I have been contacted by a large financial firm for an admin assistant interview tomorrow. I have been doing some online research as I have no clue about the company...and I'm TERRIFIED! I mean, if I was a good fit for the company, it would be great, but I'm soooo scared it's WAAAY out of my league!!! EEP!!!

Take a deep breath and think "I am just as good as anyone else and I can learn anything" and go in there with that attitude. You will do just fine and remember if you don't get that job it wasn't the one for you!!! I am sending you good wishes and good vibes your way. Let us know how it went.

And? ... what is the worst that could happen?

    hmmm?

One of two things. You get the job. You don't get the job.

    Are you still okay? yep.
If you didn't get the job... did you you learn anything? yep.. you learned how to interview with a big firm.

If you got the job... YEAH!

so... what you need to do is imagine yourself ALREADY in the job. Yes, you are sitting there... assisting the administration to administer the business.

You have no problem assisting. That's what you'll be doing. You won't be running the place.

There will be training. There will be support. You can't know everything about the job. But you have to be confident that you can learn the job quickly.

    YOU CAN DO IT!!

btw.. I HATE that feeling of sheer panic.

First off, good luck! Just present yourself as if this job was made for you. I understand your jitters. I hate, hate, hate interviews. Hmmm might explain why I've been in the same place for 11 years - LOL.

Remember they contacted YOU! They must have seen something they liked on your resume. Every job is a learning experience. They will train you, they may require you to do some reading about the products the firm offers. But other than that as an Admin assistant you will be helping the management in the firm.

Just show them that you are eager to learn and are a quick study. You will be fine

    Keep us posted!

Thank....my problem isn't so much if I get it or don't get it..what I'm REALLY afraid of is that I get it, and a few months down the road they decide I'm just not cut out for it, and I get fired. You see, I have problems with number work, and anything having to do with accounting causes me massive problems. That part of my brain just has trouble grasping that type of thing. I'm great with people, and writen work like document production ect., but I have trouble with numbers. And I got let go from one job because of it, and it was so humiliating I'm terrified it could happen again. Now, my boss at the agency I'm with said they picked 3 from a pile of six resumes, and when the lady called she asked me to bring my references tomorrow, so I'm going to just do the best I can. I usually do pretty well in interviews, even tho I hate them LOL I just don't like the unknown!

Well, look at it as though YOU are interviewing THEM. Once you know more about the job description you can decide if it's right for YOU.

Let us know how it goes, and I'll be hoping that the job description doesn't involve ANY accounting -- heck, they're financial professionals. They should be able to do it themselves.

Good Luck! I know you'll do fantastic.. and when you get it, if you do have any reservations about the numbers part of it...feel free to ask me any questions. I work as an accounting assistant. =) I will sure answer any questions you have if I can!

    THANKS FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT EVERYONE!!!

So I went today, and (depiste my panic) it seemed to go well. It was casual, with just one person (SUCH a welcome change from the panel interviews I've had lately. I was worried I wasn't going to be on my game due to an unexpected late night, (see post about porcupine :S ) and it was actually ok. It's a position of administrative support at an office that specializes in insolvency. I won't get my hopes up, but I think overall it went well. I will hear back either way by the end of tomorrow. And I will also keep looking for something permenant to settle into. I'm hoping to get settled soon!!

Thanks again for all the best wishes!!
