    Unhappy School Question

I am planning on starting classes to be a CNA. I have to pay 160 dollars on August 1st to register. Then I'll owe an additional 340 over a period of 2 or 3 weeks.

I am already spending more than I make. I am planning on getting a direct deposit advance from my bank to pay for school. I am guaranteed a job after I get my certification which takes only 2 weeks of classes. I'll be making more being a CNA and also be keeping my existing job that I have now.

Is it okay to go ahead and screw myself over some more knowing that I'll be able to pay everything up at the end of August or do I need to wait and save the 500 over the next two months? I am at a loss here.

I am desperate to get out of the work environment I am in, being there fulltime drains me, part time I can handle. I am desperate to start working as a CNA, I've wanted this for a long time.

Everytime I get ahead something blows up in my face. Like I got hit by a semi and had my car totaled. Then I got hit again and the kid that hit me didn't have insurance and my dad lied to me and said he was paying mine. I ended up spending like 1700 to fix my car which eventually blew up like 2 months later forcing me to buy a new one. It's just been one thing after another.....

I'm basically starting from scratch at 23 because I haven't had anyone to tell me how to budget etc etc...

This may not be the answer you're looking for, but I suggest saving the $500 before starting school. You said you're spending more money than you make; and you're relying on your dad to pay your car insurance. I think saving for what you want will instill a sense of pride and ownership....even if it's the more difficult thing to do. This might be just the thing you need to help you learn to how to budget. I wish you luck with whatever you decide!

I agree with Samigirl. If you are already spending more than you make you need to stop and take a minute and look at your spending a little closer. See what you can cut back on, or get rid of completely. You may find that you can get that $500 a lot easier than you think! Good luck.

Can you get a part time job to earn that extra money a little quicker? Hang in there, it'll all work out.

No no no I said my dad SAID he was paying my car insurance when he wasn't..... He was supposed to have been paying because he charged a bunch of stuff on my credit card and never paid me back. Anyway, since I wasn't covered by insurance, I had to pay out of pocket to get my car fixed which was close to 2k... Anyway, I pay all my own bills now. Just to clarify, I didn't want people thinking I was a spoiled brat having my dad pay my bills for me....

On the other hand, the instructor at school emailed me and said she can work out a payment plan with me. I'm so confused!! I don't know what to do!!

I could sell my plasma? lol

Ok - the good news is - you're 23. It's rough now, but you are young and it will get better. IF YOU MAKE IT SO!

The bad news is - you have a mess. Borrowing money will make it worse, not better!

Wait a year - work 2 or 3 jobs - save the money you need for school, pay what you need to pay, and pay cash.

Delayed gratification is the key to long term success!

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Yeah it does, but its like a bandaid. Better to get the truth fast and get over the pain, cause otherwise, you'll live in denial and get to look forward to a lifetime of financial misery.
