Advise and prayers needed.
I applied at DHs job (casino) for a cashier position a few weeks back. Did not hear anything so DH called today. They called me within 5 minutes of talking to DH. I have a PANEL interview on Wednesday.
I am really scared. My anxiety is in full force about this. DH had to do one of these to; to get his job. Its an interview in a circle with a bunch of people.
Not only am I terrible @ interviews but I am terrible at speaking in front of a lot of people.
I NEED this job. I need the health care, the benefits, a career, great pay....it would just be an amazing opportunity for me.
Help! And Hugs! and Prayers are welcome!!!
Oh, and the other thing thats bothering me...is I have nothing nice to wear. I do not own professional clothes. I do not own sneakers, I do not own shoes. I own flip flops. And its cold, and rainy here now (finally!!) so dad said he can give me money for shoes...so lets hope I can throw an outfit together, and do my makeup and hair nice to look professional!

Remember that 'you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you'. You have no reason not to hold your head high, march into the interview and have a really good interview. Have confidence!. You have to believe in yourself that you can do it.

Most people are intimidated by interviews - please remember that they need to find someone to fill a position and it might as well be you. Be yourself, be polite, talk at a reasonable volume so they can hear you. Think about the skills that a cashier needs and then list for yourself the skills that you already possess to meet those needs.
Breathe all throughout the interview process and know that we are all here cheering you on!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Thanks Maui!!!
Another thing that is making me nervous, if I am deaf in my right ear, and my left ear has a bad infection and I can only hear about 40% out of it...so I am scared I will have trouble hearing and not get the job because of that.

I'm wondering if it would be improper when introducing yourself and shaking hands with whomever that you ask them if they could all speak a little louder than normal during the interview because you're finding that with your ear infection that it's harder than normal to hear. That way if you ask them to repeat themself a little louder, they'll more than likely be understanding of your situation.

The problem is if they find out I am deaf in one ear I may not qualify for the job, BUT in a few weeks/a month or so I will be getting tubes in my ears and that will fix it so I dont want to not get the job because of it and then be able to hear in a month ya know? So I just have to try to read lips really well on Wednesday!!!

Its natural to be nervous at a job interview and interviewers are aware that you're going to be nervous. I've done a few panel interviews and to me it was about the same as a one-on-one interviews except you have 2 or more people asking questions. Remember to breathe, take a couple seconds to think before answering, and make eye contact with each person.
If I were you, I'd do a mock interview with with your DH as the interviewer. He's familiar with the questions they're going to ask and it will give you some practice.
Go get 'em tiger!!“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

So a panel interview is multiple people interviewing you or multiple people getting interviewed?

deep breath! you can do it.
when introduced, as stated in another post, ask them to speak up.
get some good shoes. lots of professionals look at shoes..i know, strange!, but, it is that way! shoes tell alot about a person. even if they are cheap (target) make sure they look good! a pair of black or brown driving mocs/loafers should do the job. a pair of black, gray or brown pants (try for not a cheapy looking cotton blend) and a sensible button down blouse. add a scarf for color if you can find a cheap one that doesnt look cheap. make sure clothes are clean as are you. neat hair is a must! good luck to you

In 11 hours I will be @ my interview. I am pretty nervous, but I can do my best and thats all I can do.
Dad gave me some money to buy shoes (all I have is flip flops) and a pair of pants and a nice shirt to wear so I can look professional. That was really nice of him
Gonna pay him back on Friday when DH and I get paid.
So..when DH gets home from work @ 5am we are going to run to Walmart, get me an outfit, come home and go back to bed and then go to my interview! LOL!

Ashley, DH already works there. You mention the health care as a top need - and I agree... but don't they offer insurance to him that can cover you too?
Most employers who offer health care offer it to employees in multiple tiers - usually Employee Only, Employee + Spouse and Employee + Family.
Anyway - listen - just go in, be yourself, be honest, and try to enjoy the experience. Even if you don't get *this* job, this is practice for another interview. You may not get a job out of this, but you'll get experience at interviewing which is very important regardless.
Knock em dead!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
