    Red face

I like the concept of it all, even for just regular everyday (non-work clothes). Speaking of clothes, I had a near fatality today with a pair of new suit pants.

As part of my job, I transport youth from time to time, to and from school, to appointments, to court, medical etc. I had a transport this morning and wearing the gorgeous but not so smart heeled boots that look awesome with this outfit, as I leaving the building, my heel skidded on ice but luckily I didn't fall I picked up and dropped off the student and thought I'd race home (3 blocks away) to change into a pair of flats - so as to not slip and fall as my boots scared the beejeebus out of me).

I go home, change into a comfy pair of black shoes, flats...close the house door, took 1 step on my wooden steps and went surfing down the rest of my front steps and landedon both knees on rough concrete with an extremely painful The pain was so intense, particularly in my right knee, but all i thought about was "my pants, omg, my pants" Luckily no visible rips or tears and no blood (I quickly rolled them up over my knee - which is swollen and was bloody. So climb up the steps, wimpering and manage to get back into my house. Cleaned up both knees and tried 'walking it off" haha

Mangled up knees but somehow a slight miracle occurred, my beautiful charcoal grey suit pants live on - no rips, no damage! Not sure how the heck that could happen but that's my only consulation as my right knee continues to swell and the pain ebbs and flows as I sit my office lol

I have to chuckle to myself, it musta been quite the sight to see I probably would have laughed if I saw myself fall, of course, if it were another person - I'd offer to help them up and wouldn't laugh if they were injured.

Thanks, yes I can only imagine how long it'll be til my knees, particularly the right knee, feels as good as new. I'm so sick of winter We've had snow since end of oct and I'm done with it now lol But we have another 4 months of snow to go! Usually by april alot of the snow is melting around here. But we've been known to get snow in June, so who knows

    bump.

This topic interests me -- how to keep a minimum wardrobe, and still have the bases covered for special times.

I like the idea of a winter capsule and a summer capsule. Also a separate capsule for travel.

Lately, I've been working on the travel capsule:

    • Black TravelSmith pants and jacket.
    • Black TravelSmith dress.
    • Blue Vikki Vi pants and cardigan.
    • 4 fitted t-shirts in solid colors (navy, white, black, sage)
    • tan cashmere pullover (light and warm)
    • Gortex rain jacket
    • low-heeled shoes

The TravelSmith and Vikki Vi clothes are all non-wrinkle fabrics.

I think I could pair that collection with a pair of black sandals, some costume jewelry, and a couple of scarves -- and I'd be good for a week of visiting.

However, our next trip will be a beach vacation, so I'll probably switch out. Here's my new plan:

    • 2 rayon skirts
    • 4 fitted t-shirts
    • 1 pair shorts
    • tan cashmere pullover (light and warm)
    • Gortex rain jacket
    • slip-on shoes
    • sandals

On the plane, I'd wear my bulkiest clothes -- including the pullover and rain jacket. That would leave very little to pack.

And you want to know the best part? Except for the rain jacket, (bought on a good clearance at Lands' End), everything else was thrifted!

Sounds like a great beach plan - I'd add a bathing suit and a pareau coverup too!!
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

After being retired for 4 years, my old boss called last week and offered me part time work at a fantastic pay rate - an offer I couldn't refuse!!
(I worked there before for 24 years)

Living in sweat pants, jeans, shorts, etc. and having gained several pounds, I have to create a new work wardrobe. I don't need a lot since I'll only be there 3 days as week.

Yesterday, I bought 3 pairs of slacks (black, brown, gray), a rust colored classic styled shirt and a nice black blazer.
I already have one good pair of black pants, a pretty red blazer, good black shoes and a few nice shirts/blouses.
I want to add some khaki or camel colored pants, a brown or camel blazer, a few more tops, a nice pair of brown shoes, and a new purse.

Then I think I'll be set to rejoin the workforce. I start in 2 weeks.

I have just registered for Frugal Village thanks to Sarah Noel's article today in the Atlanta Journal Constitution on the capsule wardrobe. All of the posts have been great - however, I am not able to open the capsuleformula.docx from Craftymom posted on 1/5 - any helpful hints? Thanks much.
