First day of work question...
More of a fun one, really. When I was in school, my mom would always take us back to school shopping. We got $100 to spend however we wanted and on top of that my mom would buy me a new "first day of school" outfit. Now that I'm in the real world, I have always bought myself a "first day of work" outfit when I start a new job (if I'm really hard up, maybe just a top or something smaller). I was wondering if I was the only one that did this? Does anyone else have any special things that they do to celebrate the first day of a new job? Just curious.

usually i have to buy at least new shirts for work. i recently changed jobs and had to get some dark blue shirts for work since i can't wear an apron. i put off getting new pants for a few weeks, but finally had to do that last week. for me it's usually not in celebration but out of need.

When I started this job I had to buy everything! I only had business suits and things here are more casual. My first day I showed up with a business suit and people kept calling me ma'am and thought I was a big-wig!
I had to go shopping for slacks and tops. That was my big "new job" treat. My parents bought me some desk organizers for X-mas last year which was a nice treat for me since I had only been here a few weeks.

When I take the boys school shopping each year before school starts, I also shop then. Working for the school district, I feel like I am returning to school each year when they do.

. gotta laugh at this one! My first day of work, I blew up my car on the way home.Called home, kids on the net. called my Dad, wasn't home. called my inlaws, they didn't know who I was. finally said Your Daughter in Law. They got a message to hubby. he called me. then oldest son called. then AAA called me. Mind you I have a TRAC phone with8 min, when I started. I shoulda been crying, all I could do was Laugh!!!!!
I consider this GOOD LUCK. Last time I killed my car on the first day of work, my job lasted 4 yrs, I'm hired as Holiday help.
My treat for going back to work... a bottle of Nair!!!
That's a splurge for me, no razor bumps. Luv to ya'll Maggie Z.
