    Default WOOHOO

got the first three students already scheduled for the first reading evaluation for the extra job that I picked up after school. Then the guy who owns the business called me this afternoon and asked me if I was interested in more students. He said that they had hired some other substitutes for the position that did not speak very much english (? how is that???). Anyway, this brings me more hours, more work of course, but more $$ and the hourly pay is better than my daytime job!

I have been going over the reading program and from the things that I have learned about teaching reading, it just makes sense. The way many of us were taught to read in my day (mid 60's) we were taught the rules. Once we learned the rules, we forget these rules and just apply them automatically when reading. I am very excited about being a part of this, it is very promising and has the potential to save so many students that are slipping through the cracks by re=teaching. (Not to mention there is money for me and a possible full time position in the summer if they like me!)

One of the best things for me as a homeschooling mom was teaching my kids to read and watching the lighbulb go on. It gave me incredible joy.

I'm so happy for you that you will be giving these students a lifetime skill. What a wonderful feeling your going to get when you see their success.

    I'm excited for you Robin.

There is no better satisfaction in this world (IMHO) than teaching someone to read or to help them improve their reading skills.

Congratulations Robin! Sounds like you are on to something.
