Do you like your job?
For those of us that work outside of the home, do you like your job? Is it in the occupation that you planned to enter when you were young or is one that you found your way into unexpectedly?
I love my job. I work in critical care in the CVICU and even though it can be very stressful and very sad and draining somedays, it is always rewarding. I can not even imagine working anywhere else. I have always worked in health care and even though I originally planned to be a nurse I am happy with my role as the unit clerk. When I broke my hip years ago, that changed my plans of nursing but I have an important role in the running of the unit and my co-workers are a wonderful bunch of people.

I really like my job-- of course, it helps that I'm only there two days a week!
I'm the Activity Director in a nursing home-- these days, since I went part-time to be home with DD, I only do paperwork. I have two assistants who do the hands-on stuff with the residents, and I do miss that part.
I thought I was going to be an art teacher when I was younger. I went to college as an Art Therapy major... still planned to work with kids... then started volunteering at a Senior Center and really loved working with the elderly. I ended up with a BS in Art Therapy and a minor in Gerontology.
Straight out of college, I got this job. It's been almost ten years now!

I don't really like my job much, but I only work 15 hours a week and in the evening to get insurance.
I DID like it when I started. I loved visiting my patients at home and I had great supervisors. Then they all left and I got some really bad ones. And since I am working 2nd shift now, I don't really ever have any contact with the ublic, including patients. Once in a while one will need stat testing done, and I can go visit for a few minutes, but that is pretty rare. I think if I still had contact with them, I would like it better. I am a huge customer service person and love chatting with clients and making thir day a little better.

I enjoy my job, but more importantly the people I work with. The work was definitely not my first choice; when I went to college I chose the course with the shortest length of studies that would get me into the best job sector. I desperately needed to get out of housecleaning! I enjoy working with money, but would rather have gone into Business Admin (need two Algebra courses first). The core group of employees is understanding and help each other out, in our personal lives too. And I am very lucky to have two compassionate bosses! I could make more money working for government, but it is not only hard to get into, but at this stage in my life (with kids at home) the compassion is worth more than the extra money!
I get very frustrated on rare occasions and consider leaving, but it has really helped me to see my blessings in this job when I read other's posts.

I don't like my job at all. I only do it for DH and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We'll sell our store soon.
I'd never worked in retail until we bought this store. You meet some wondeful people and we have a great customer base with many warm and friendly people. But we also have lots of tourists come through and although many of them are lovely, many are not.
My first jobs were as a registered nurse. I worked in ER, the operating theatre, and for a time, in the transplant unit. I also worked for the Flying Doctor and I ran a small hospital on an aboriginal settlement in the 1970s.
Then I went back to university and became a journalist. I eventually became editor of the local newspaper, then a technical writer for the mining industry. I loved that job, had a few people working for me and did it for about 15 years. I closed that business down when I ran out of ambition 18 months ago.
I LOVE being at home now. I enjoy everything about it, but mostly I love the freedom to do as I please. I see my job at the store the two days I pay for five days of perfection.

*sigh --- I don't care for my job much and I find my co-workers rather dull and boring.
Like Kathy -- I WAS a unit clerk in the ER and found that job very exciting! I liked the people most days and really felt useful! But I was forever stuck on 2nd shift and didn't get too see my family much at all.
Soo.....I took a paycut (slight) for a dayshift to work in the Blood bank. I work with a bunch of med techs who think they walk on water and have the personalities of a rock. Oh well -- its worth it for the no nights and NO WEEKENDS. So yes it was a tradeoff but my family is more important.

I love my job. I love working with my special ed students. They don't just learn from me, I learn from them too.
I love the challenges and rewards.
I work with great co-workers. One is a close friend and we even walk together in the evenings.
I love the fact that I am home full-time when the boys are out of school. I get the same holidays they do, as well as summer off! I love being home and still getting paid.

I loved my job as a medical transcriptionist and secretary. I loved the part time hours, but mostly- I loved the people I worked with, and I really miss them.
I am hoping to go back to work soon, but I know it will be hard to replace such a great job.

I like what I do at my day job and love the people I work for and work with, however I'm finding I want more hours devoted towards my own business. The full time hours I'm working for someone else I find to be frustrating and draining. Even though I like what I do, it's still for someone else, so I feel like I'm chained to my desk most days. I work a lot at home too, so I end up working about 65 to 70 hours a week.

I like my job ok, but it gets in the way of what I have to get done on the outside. So usually I have to take 3-5 days off per month just to get things done, get things delivered. Maybe if the banks and post offices would stay open later than 4 I wouldn't mind so much. But, jeeze it's a royal pain (get it, the wedding is tomorrow), oh I know bad joke.
Edit: if I had three-5 days off per week, then I wouldn't be working, he, he.

Overall I love my job. I work 3rd shift in a nursing home as a CNA. I would rather be back on second shift so I can spend more time with the residents when they are awake, but this works for us.
On a good night, we come in and check all the rooms abd residents, split up sections, load our cart, smoke (a habit I am trying to break!), do a dry round and then sit and chat for awhile. Run out and get something to eat (but not me anymore) sit around some more. Do a dry round. Take turns napping instead of lunch breaks. Pass ice. Get people up and dressed, do one last dry round and then wait for three first shift CNA's to show up so we can do a walk through... then leave. *yawn*
But it IS very easy work. It's harder when there are only 2 cna's but the other night we had 5 and I thought I would fall asleep.
I want to go to school to become an RN but homeschooling my children is my first priority. We are working on dh's business (computers) so I can be a SAHM or at least work every other weekend/ PRN only. That would make life so much easier.
I've worked as a telemarketer (hated it), sales clerk, visual displays, cashier, stocker, data entry, cook, house cleaner for military move out inspections, tutor, babysitter, file clerk, child care center, taxi, waitress and hostess at IHOP. I've liked all my jobs except the first one.

I like my job, bank teller - customer service rep, just don't like my management. The manager and head teller are always whispering about one person or another, so you are never sure if you are in trouble or not! Also, the hours! We are open 9-4:30 Mon. - Thurs. 9-5:30 Fri., 9 - 12 on Sat. We have to be there from 8:00 AM until at least 1/2 hour after closing! I'm at work more than I am awake at home! Hoping when we move and I get a new job it will be better.

I love my job. I am a CADD Tech, meaning I draw for a living. I fell into this when I took a drafting course in college and never looked back. I wanted to go on for an engineering degree, but didn't have the money at the time. Looking back I am happy with my decision because of the low pressure nature of my job as opposed to the engineers. But they do make more money lol.
