Interview on Thursday
I have a very good friend whose child goes to a magnet school that specializes in math and science. She has told me that she has been filling in for the administrative assistant (asst to principal) and they are interviewing. She asked me to send a resume, then showed up at my door yesterday and helped me create one. This job pays more than three times what I make as a substitute and also says that they value education and the adult staff that are and want to attend college.
I posted my resume yesterday on careerbuilders (which is what they are using) She is scheduling the interviews and personally printed out my resume and took it to the asst principal and told him that we were friends. She said that he asked if I was as wonderful as she and she replied "more". He asked her to schedule an interview with me and she did for this Thursday at 9AM.
When I went to bed last night I felt like I had a shot at this job. It does not mean that I wont or cant become a teacher, it means that I dont have to worry while I go to school and that I dont have to kill myself with 20-22 units and two jobs. It would still be within the realms of my contract for the school district to pay for my schooling. It just seems so right.
I also worry that I will be so let down if I do not get this job, because it is summer and once again I am nearing that desperate time of my life and I am so sick and tired of the vicious cycle I just cant seem to break no matter how hard I work.
If this does not work out at least I will be motivated to look for something that my degree can help me attain. I am so sick of begging my ex for help he NEVER gives. If I had this job, I could go to sleep at night and wake up the next day knowing that myself and my children could go to the doctor and live a little better than a paycheck away from disaster.
Please remember me in your prayers, I cant think of anything that I have wanted more or better yet needed more.

Good luck. It's great that your friend opened this avenue to you. And using your degree to get you a job that would make your life easier is exactly what you should be doing.
