Progress made (though small) on Career!
(patting myself on the back)
Today I just applied for membership in the EMA (Envelope Manufacturers Association). As I do actually have career goals in the envelope industry, I figure this is one more step in the right direction!
In thinking about my upcoming review, I've also been thinking about my long term career goals - what I want to accomplish for myself. So I've been thinking what additional training and certifications I might need or want, and what areas of my industry I need to gain more experience in. I have a rough sketch in my head, but I'm trying to set some actual goals for the upcoming year. I guess the whole New Years thing always gets me thinking ahead.
Does anyone else have any upcoming career goals? Or experience with professional organizations in your industry?Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)

Good for you! I agree...a step in the right direction.
I've been working on my novel, which is definitely a goal of mine.
I've also been thinking more about where I'm going within the field of education. I have a few more courses to take in order to get my principal's certificate, but I am already certified enough to get a job as a supervisor. It's hard to seriously discuss any job movements considering the fact that I'll be on maternity leave in 10 weeks for a few months. But I'm thinking about it!My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

Good for you Sara! That's awesome to aspire to new things. I wish you the best!
I am doing that very same thing in my field. I have been actually fighting with myself about staying where I am comfortable. Very easy, no longer very challenging career in animation and computer illustration. I love the work and plan on branching off in freelance in this area along with graphic design, my actual degree. I am ready to start again and will be taking some online courses in a few art programs that will get me a few steps ahead and hopefully right in line with a new career, whatever that may bring in the near future. I will also be starting my new portfolio just after Christmas.
